Arsenal have received a huge injury boost after Gabriel Jesus was spotted training in Dubai.
The Brazilian has struggled with knee and hamstring issues this campaign.
Gunners fans were feared the worst when Jesus was left out of Mikel Arteta’s squad to face Liverpool in the FA Cup third round last weekend with another knee complaint.
However, Arteta insisted the decision was precautionary with Jesus’ issue “minor”.
Dimitar Berbatov has tipped a surprise team to win the title this season - ahead of Manchester City, Arsenal , Liverpool and Spurs.
Berbatov says it is second placed Aston Villa that he sees as most likely to win the title.
He told SunSport, courtesy of Betfair: "I always love the underdog story. I was so happy when Leicester won the league.
"Arsenal, Liverpool, the normal big teams are circling around the top spot - the usual suspects.
"But I'm very pleased to see Aston Villa having a great season so far and I hope they will have the power and the consistency and concentration to continue until the last game of the season.
"Maybe they will surprise everybody with their final position.
"Other than that, Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, the major contenders like every year."
Fabrizio Romano has had his say on Mikel Arteta's contract situation, with the manager only having 18 months left on his current deal.
The transfer guru said: "Some fans have been asking me about Mikel Arteta having just 18 months left on his contract - at the moment Arsenal’s priority is to focus on the January window & getting better results on the pitch as soon as possible.”
“There is no news on Arteta, but they’re not in a rush, they are very happy together. Arteta loves Arsenal & the club is very happy with him, so there’s no rush, all parties are relaxed.”
Arsenal are also looking for defensive reinforcements, in particular at left-back, with a loan move a possibility as summer signing Jurrien Timber continues his rehab from ACL surgery.
The Gunners are limited in what they can spend in January due to FFP concerns.
Midfielder Thomas Partey is expected to return to full fitness by the end of the month, having been out since October with a major thigh injury.
Arsenal have received a huge injury boost as Gabriel Jesus was spotted training in Dubai.
The Brazilian has endured an injury-hit campaign so far, missing the start of the season following knee surgery before suffering a hamstring strain in November.
Gunners fans were then fearing the worst when Jesus was left out of Mikel Arteta’s squad to face Liverpool in the FA Cup third round last weekend with another knee complaint.
However, Arteta insisted the decision was precautionary with Jesus’ issue “minor” – and he is now back training with the first team squad at their Middle East training camp.
Paul Merson expects Arsenal to sign a striker before the end of the January transfer window.
His former club have been strongly linked with several strikers already this month, including Ivan Toney and Borja Mayoral.
Discussing Tottenham's signing of Timo Werner, Merson told Sportskeeda: "This is probably a funny thing to say, but if Timo Werner didn’t previously play for Chelsea, I think snapping him up on loan would’ve been something the club would have considered in January.
"Much like Arsenal, they need a bonafide goalscorer and I wouldn’t be surprised if they manage to sign someone this month."
Arsenal target Borja Mayoral is the most prolific striker in La Liga this season.
The Getafe forward has scored 12 league goals already this term, putting him joint-second with Alvaro Morata and one behind top scorer Jude Bellingham.
However, Mayoral's 12 strikes have come from just 27 shots to give him a devastating 44 per cent conversion rate.
Meanwhile, 78 per cent of his shots have been on target, with both stats better than those of Morata and Bellingham.
