Arteta said: “I love it, they demand more from each other and they are not happy with the way they concede that and they are trying to resolve it.

“It was a bit heated, but that means it is not enough playing the way we played, the result has to be bigger.

“That’s pushing each other and not being happy conceding and I have to encourage that and promote it in the right way and a respectful way.

“Sometimes after the game it’s emotional and heated, but I love that the players are pushing each other and demanding excellence.”

  • Prem giants queue up for Seb

Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly rivalling clubs like Tottenham, Napoli and Real Sociedad for Fenerbahce midfielder Sebastian Szymanski.

Reports in Turkey, via Football Transfers Netherlands, say the 30-cap Poland hero is poised to be a major target in the remaining two days of the transfer window.

It's already been claimed by Turkish outlet Aksam Spor that Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is "very keen" on the 24-year-old.

  • 'I totally don’t want him to go!'

Ex-Arsenal keeper David Seaman says it would be a “disaster” for the club if boss Mikel Arteta quit for Barcelona.

The ex-England keeper reckons the Gunners are ever improving under the Spaniard.

He told his Parimatch-sponsored podcast Seaman Says: “He’s building and building and it’s getting better, and I really think it’d be a disaster for Arsenal if he was to leave the club for Barcelona.

“It wouldn’t be a disaster for Mikel Arteta personally… When you’re going on to a club like Barcelona, that’s an incredible opportunity.”

But Seaman added: “I totally don’t want him to go! He’s going in the right direction every season, so I want him to stay.

“To be fair to him, he’s come out and said on Monday in his press conference that he’s not interested in leaving for Barcelona.

“He said that as he works at Arsenal. But that’s like the standard answer for managers to give, isn’t it, whether he’s going or not!”

It’s believed Everton would want at least £70million for Onana.

But boss Sean Dyche revealed his star man played with a knock in Saturday’s 2-1 home FA Cup exit against Luton.

  • Mustafi relishing comeback

Ex-Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi is "tingling" with excitement as his six-month search for a new club nears an end.

The 20-cap German, 31, has been a free agent since Levante released him last summer after missing promotion to LaLiga in the play-offs.

The former Schalke, Valencia and Sampdoria star told Sport: "There have been intensive discussions recently with those responsible at some clubs.

"But negotiations can also drag on. I'm waiting and ready for a new task. The anticipation is great.

"It still tingles. I noticed that when I was working as a pundit and standing on the sidelines."

Mustafi insists he would consider a move to any country - but believes a return to Germany is unlikely for now.

He added: "It will probably be abroad. I told my father and my advisor I was open to anything.

"I speak five languages and my time abroad also made me very adaptable. So I'm pretty flexible."

  • Refs can explain VAR decisions to fans next season

Premier League referees will be able to explain VAR decisions to fans next season in a major change in protocol.

PGMOL chief Howard Webb is keen to improve transparency between referees and fans.

And the new initiative could help repair damaged trust in top-flight officials.

Football lawmakers Ifab have given the Prem the green light for refs to communicate their calls to those in the stadium.

It comes following a successful trial of the new procedure in Mexico and Portugal.

Like in the Women’s World Cup and Club World Cup, the refs are expected to be mic’d up inside stadiums.

And after consulting the VAR monitor and agreeing on a decision, they will then declare the basic reasoning over the PA system to the crowd – such as identifying who committed a foul or was offside for example.

  • Arteta delighted with victory and performance

Mikel Arteta hailed Arsenal's "understanding" of how to win.

But the Gunners' boss admitted tonight's 2-1 Prem victory at Nottingham Forest was "a bit tight" near the end.

Taiwo Awoniyi's late Forest reply sparked anxious moments after Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus left Arsenal seemingly cruising.

Arteta said: "I’m really happy, really happy with the performance, even though at the end it was a bit tight.

"We dominated the game, we played the game that we wanted, didn’t concede anything and we looked a threat in various ways which is what we needed to do.

"You have to play certain balls, and take the risk in the right areas because they are just waiting for that, for you to make a mistake, to lose the ball in certain positions and then run, that’s the biggest quality that they have.

"I’m really pleased with how we understood the game."

  • Gunners could call for Callum

Arsenal could yet launch an eleventh-hour bid for England striker Callum Wilson.

That's the view of transfer guru Fabrizio Romano - as Newcastle balance Financial Fair Play issues.

But Romano told GIVEMESPORT any deal would have to be permanent.

He said: "Newcastle insist the player is going nowhere.... So, it's not easy, but if they receive an important proposal because of Financial Fair Play, that could be a different situation.

"Wilson could be open to the move.

"Premier League clubs could have an opportunity in the final hours, but it must be an important proposal, not a loan.”

But the Gunners have been keen for several months.

And now other Prem clubs are also being linked with the exciting teenager.

The Gunners are three points clear of Manchester City, who host Burnley tomorrow night, and Aston Villa, who crashed 3-1 at home to Newcastle this evening.

And Jesus is grateful Arsenal supporters have kept backing him despite his own setbacks.

He told TNT Sports: "It is all about trust.

"I arrived at the club with patience and desire to improve, I think I am doing good. Unfortunately I have been injured.

"I got kicked in training so I had some problems again, but I am working hard and doing everything to be on the on the pitch."

  • Arsenal front three ratings

    Bukayo Saka - 8

Missed a few chances during the first half but stepped up when needed to seal the three points for Arsenal.

    Gabriel Jesus - 8

After missing two fantastic chances to put the Gunners ahead early in the second half, Jesus popped up in the 65th minute with the decisive breakthrough goal.

It arguably should’ve been saved by ex-Gooner Matt Turner, but Arsenal fans won’t care.

    Gabriel Martinelli - 7

Had a habit of slowing down the play by cutting back while on the attack at times.

  • Gunners' midfield ratings

    Declan Rice - 7

It wasn’t his best performance, but still a positive display from a player that was a potential doubt for this game due to injury.

    Emile Smith Rowe - 7

Looked very lively in his first Premier League start since October.

    Martin Odegaard - 7

Played a crucial role in the build-up to Arsenal’s second goal.

Once again pulled the strings and dominated the midfield.

  • Arsenal ratings - defence

    David Raya - 7

Barely touched the ball during the first half and had very little to do in the second.

Couldn't have done much to prevent Forest's goal.

    Ben White - 7

Brilliant down the right, especially when linking up with Saka in attack.

    William Saliba - 6

Didn’t have too much to do from defence in the first half, but made some important interceptions to break down Forest’s counter attack attempts.

However, he was bullied off the ball by Taiwo Awoniyi before the striker scored for the Reds.

    Gabriel Magalhaes -7

Like Saliba, didn’t have too much to do in the first half but stepped up when needed in defence.

    Oleksandr Zinchenko - 7

His movement gave Smith Rowe more freedom to push forward while Arsenal were on the attack.

Perhaps spent a bit too much time on the ball on some occasions, but recovered well.

His quick thinking while taking a throw-in on the left led to Jesus’ opening goal.

  • It's a Zin says Scholes in X-rated blast

Paul Scholes has fumed at Oleksandr Zinchenko in an X-rated Instagram post.

The Manchester United legend took aim at the Arsenal left-back during the Gunners' 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest tonight.

Scholes took exception to Zinchenko stepping into the Gunners' midfield from left-back as he regularly does for Mikel Arteta's side.

Several Premier League sides now utilise their full-backs further forward, with Zinchenko often joining the Arsenal midfield in possession.

During the match, Scholes wrote on Instagram: "A full-back coming into central midfield is an insult to a central midfield player...

"I think he/she should be told to get the f*** back out there... night."

Former United team-mate Phil Neville responded by commenting: "Us full-backs can play anywhere pal."

And Zinchenko went on to grab an assist for Gabriel Jesus' opener

  • Gab's delight

Arsenal's opening scorer Gabriel Jesus reckons tonight's 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest was well deserved.

Victory plus Aston Villa's home struggle against Newcastle (Unai Emery's men are currently 3-0 down) has lifted the Gunners to second in the Prem.

Jesus told TNT Sports of Mikel Arteta's half-time instructions"First of all to keep trying and in the first half we did good.

"We were there and controlled the game, but the best way to control them is to keep the ball in the third part of the pitch

"We did well in the first half but we didn't score.

"Second half we scored so we controlled more of the game."

  • Jesus: We controlled it

Gabriel Jesus revealed ow boss Mikel Arteta told Arsenal to push Nottingham Forest back in the second half of the Gunners' 2-1 win.

Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka rewarded the visitors' bossing of possession by striking on 65 and 72 minutes.

But Forest sub Taiwo Awoniyi cut the deficit before almost levelling late on.

However, Jesus told TNT Sports that an interval chat set the Gunners on the right path.
