Erik ten Hag says the pressure to always win at Dutch giants Ajax was intense - so he can handle the even greater heat at Old Trafford.
The Manchester United boss said: “At Ajax, you have to win. Here, you definitely have to win — that is always the demand.
“For those demands, you can never run away from that and I don’t.
“That’s our obligation, to win every game, the squad is good enough to put out a team who can win every game.”
The United chief added that he still has the support from the owning Glazer family despite the downturn this season.
Erik ten Hag does not fear the Manchester United axe as he faces a doomsday scenario at Anfield, writes NEIL CUSTIS.
SunSport revealed this week that former Chelsea boss Graham Potter is favoured by incoming investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe to replace the Dutchman if results do not pick up.
And with United depleted by injuries and a suspension for captain Bruno Fernandes, they travel to league leaders Liverpool tomorrow more in hope than expectation.
But asked if he was concerned about his own position, former Ajax boss Ten Hag said: “No, there is no concern because I’m here to win and I have to make the team play better.
“If you play good, even then good is not good enough.
"We’re inconsistent so I have to work on the team playing for longer periods at a higher level."
Al-Hilal has reportedly entered the race to sign Casemiro.
PSG are very keen to add Manchester United's Brazilian to their ranks but may no face competition from the Saudi Pro League.
His destination may all depend on the price tag the Red Devils slap on the defensive midfielder.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag senses club owners the Glazers still support him - and they have told him that feeling is right.
United are out of Europe and a mediocre sixth in the Prem.
But Ten Hag said of the club backing him: “I feel that and they say that, so that’s fine, that’s OK.
“But I’m focusing on the process, on making this team play better, on making the individuals better, that’s my concern.
“That’s all I’m doing, focusing on the right thing and that is the team.”
Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford have been passed as fit enough to make the squad for Man Utd’s clash against Liverpool, but Harry Maguire and Anthony Martial will miss out.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of the game, manager Erik ten Hag provided an update on his squad for Sunday’s blockbuster match.
He said: “Harry will not be available for the coming games, but we don’t think it’s long term.
“Luke Shaw trained this morning, so we think he’s available for Sunday. Marcus Rashford will be back, Martial not.”
Dwight Yorke believes old club Manchester United might need to quickly get rid of outcast winger Jadon Sancho for the good of "morale" - as he just "strolls through life".
The former hitman worries the England ace will be a bad influence and urged United to keep him away from the dressing room.
Yorke told InstantCasino.com: "Clubs can't do their best work with constant drama surrounding it. The bad spirit will always manifest.
"Sancho shouldn't be anywhere near the first team and he shouldn't mingle with the first team.
"Man United are going through a tough spell right now, and they shouldn't have to deal with the Sancho situation on top of it.
"The manager has to sort those situations out and he needs to do what he needs to do to make sure he saves his own back and is not embarrassed. If that's the case with Sancho, then I'd get rid of him and keep him away from the dressing room.
"The club needs to sort this out one way or another. It'll continue to manifest if nothing is done as Sancho will still be mates with some players.
"Situations like this aren't good for morale, though. The players will be trying their best to get results, but Sancho will be strolling through life."

Ex-Manchester United striker Andy Cole is convinced there is a "mole" leaking secrets from a disgruntled Old Trafford dressing room.
The former Newcastle and England star also believes such breaches only occur when there's a serious problem in the camp.
Cole told Betfred: “There’s definitely a mole isn’t there? Nothing comes out of a good dressing room, regardless of what’s been going on.
"Players fall out, the manager and players fall out and these are things that you’d expect to happen in football, but if you’re in a good dressing room, nobody hears about what’s happening.
"If you’ve got that winning mentality and you want to compete, then not everybody’s going to get on due to the competitive nature of the dressing room.
“At Manchester United now, information is being leaked so regularly and if the dressing room was truly united, then that wouldn’t be happening.
"Everything that’s coming out of the dressing room is negative and that can’t be helping the team and allowing them to move forward.”
Erik ten Hag says he wants to stay and finish the job as Manchester United are heading "absolutely in the "right direction" thanks to brilliant youngsters.
The Red Devils boss said: “I want to progress with my team in the right direction so we are here in a project.
“Last season, we were absolutely in the right direction. We haven’t managed the standards we expect to have and we have a setback.
“But we still can win this season and in the longer term.
“The future for Man United is very good, if you see how many good players we have in the squad, how many good young players we have.”
Manchester United legend David Beckham left little to the imagination as he fixed a TV in just his BOXERS.
Wife Victoria told fans “you’re welcome” after posting the cheeky snap to Instagram.
The loved-up couple are currently the stars of Beckham’s smash-hit Netflix documentary.
But it appeared Victoria had trouble getting it to play on her TV at home. Beckham was ever the gentleman as he got down on the floor before wriggling under the telly to adjust the wires.
And Victoria could not resist posting the picture online, saying: “Electrician came to fix the TV… You’re welcome!”
Fans were certainly loving watching Beckham parade about in his undies.
Tennis star Eugenie Bouchard said: “Mine’s broken too.” Another user declared: “Thank you for your service Victoria.”
One noted: “Mend it like Beckham.” And a fourth posted: “I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want…”
COMMMENT: Manchester United have not gone into a game in recent memory with so much fear about the outcome, writes NEIL CUSTIS.
Despite the positivity drummed out by under-fire boss Erik ten Hag, you cannot get away from the fact that it could be a humiliation at Anfield on Sunday.
It was last season as the Red Devils had a hellish afternoon, going down 7-0 in Liverpool.
But that was far from expected, - they were 11 games unbeaten and would finish third in the league.
The mood is like chalk and cheese from those days in March.
United have rarely, if ever, gone into this fixture against their bitterest rivals at such long odds to win — 15-2 with one bookie, while Liverpool are 1-4.
You had to double check exactly who Ten Hag was talking about as he described a team travelling to this fixture. The Dutchman said: “We can go head to head with them and that is our challenge for Sunday.
“We will put out a team who can challenge, a team that is confident to win that game.”
Jamie Carragher trolled Gary Neville with a cheeky Christmas jumper ahead of Manchester United’s trip to Liverpool on Sunday.
The Red Devils visit Anfield for the first time since March’s 7-0 Premier League thrashing.
And many are predicting a similar scoreline this weekend
Carragher compounded United and pal Neville’s misery by dusting off his best Christmas jumper.
The Anfield legend wore a knitted top showing him smiling in front of a dour Neville with “7-Nil” in the background.
The festive jumper was completed with Carragher saying in a speech bubble: “Oh I wish I could relive this everyday…
“When the Kop starts singing and the Reds being to play…”
Neville wasn’t too impressed with the cheeky dig as he later joined Carragher on Sky Sports.
Pointing to the sweater, Neville said: “Smells of arrogance. And arrogance is the surest path to failure.
“Are you watching, Manchester United players? Are you looking at this man’s arrogance?”
Manchester United have been warned against signing Borussia Dortmund's ex-Arsenal kid Donyell Malen.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a swoop for the 24-year-old Holland striker this month.
Dortmund are reportedly willing to include Malen in a swap deal for Jadon Sancho, who is expected to leave Old Trafford in January.
However, ex-United striker Dwight Yorke has urged his former club against signing him.
Yorke told Instant Casino: "I’ve not seen much of Donyell Malen, but I know he’s scored a few goals in the Bundesliga.
"I haven’t seen enough of him to make a judgement on him, but he seems to be an alright player.
"United can’t waste money signing players who won’t improve the squad. I’m an aspiring coach, and that’s the first thing I take into consideration before I sign anyone.
"If this player doesn’t raise the level of the position he’s playing in, then the team will continue on the same path.
Malen left Arsenal to join PSV Eindhoven at the age of 18 in 2017, joining Dortmund three years later.
Old Trafford legend Roy Keane has been a big fan of Manchester United's possible next manager Graham Potter.
Ex-midfielder Keane appreciates the ex-Brighton chief's stylish football and public persona.
After Potter swapped Brighton for Stamford Bridge, the pundit told Sky Sports: "I like Graham Potter at Chelsea. I like the way his teams play, I like the way he comes across in the media.
"I'm delighted he's got a chance at a big club like Chelsea.
There's all this talk about if he can manage a big club and big egos and all this, but give the man a chance.
"Every time he speaks in interviews, I think he comes across really well."
Manchester United's Champions League KO could have a major benefit, Erik ten Hag claims.
The Red Devils have been plagued by injuries in a disappointing first half of the season.
And failing to make the KO stages in Europe means more free midweeks.
Old Trafford manager Ten Hag said: “That's true. We had so many injuries in the first part of the season and now we have less games.
"The load will be less, so that can give players the opportunity to recover and more time on the training pitch but we will be fresher in the games.”
Joe Lewis is training with Manchester United after Aberdeen freed the 36-year-oldkeeper.
The former England Under-21 star spent seven years with the Dons after spells with Norwich, Peterborough and Cardiff.
Lewis is reportedly training with United's academy to keep fit while he looks for a new club.
He played one match in the Prem - for Cardiff in 2013.
Erik ten Hag insists "confident" United will gun for victory at Liverpool.
The Red Devils are out of the Champions League and sit sixth in the Prem - ten points behind Prem leaders Liverpool.
But boss Ten Hag said: “everyone is highly motivated when you got to Anfield and you know it's going to be tough and everything, what every top footballer wants is to have that challenge and look forward.
“We can go head to head with them and that is our challenge for Sunday as well. We will put out a team who can challenge, a team that is confident to win that game, we will prepare the team as best as we can and a team to win there.”
Donny van de Beek has reportedly agreed a loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt that could lead to Manchester United taking a £27million hit on the midfielder
Van de Beek, 26, cost £40m from Ajax in 2020.
But the Dutchman has netted just twice in 35 league outings under three different managers, also flopping on loan at Everton.
However, Van de Beek is now set for a lifeline from Germany after Frankfurt made a loan offer. Fabrizio Romano claims the playmaker has verbally accepted the Bundesliga club’s proposal.
And Frankfurt will now cough up a fee to land Van de Beek until the summer.
The move could yet be made permanent too, with Frankfurt agreeing an optional £13m fee in 2024. Should they trigger the clause, it would see United make a huge £27m loss on Van de Beek.
Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke claims the current Red Devils don’t put their "heart and soul" into games.
Ahead of Sunday's massive trip to Liverpool, the former striker believes United's players deserve as much criticism for their mediocre season as boss Erik ten Hag does.
Yorke told InstantCasino.com: I think United have themselves to blame. They made their Champions League group that was, on paper, relatively easy into one that has been extremely difficult.
Man United would have qualified if they had done what everybody thought they would have. They wouldn't have had to deal with the hassle of having to face Bayern needing to win.
"United have made life difficult for themselves, and I blame the manager and players in equal measures. They've both got themselves into this situation.
"They could put their heart and soul into their performances to make sure that the results doesn't repeat themselves at Anfield."
Erik ten Hag has been urged to make struggling striker Marcus Rashford his Manchester United skipper for Sunday's Prem clash at leaders Liverpool.
Club captain Bruno Fernandes is banned after picking up five yellow cards.
And ex-Red Devils frontman Dimitar Berbatov told Betfair: "It's a big blow for them.
"Who deserves the captain's armband more, the experienced players like Jonny Evans or Raphael Varane, or someone younger and hungry like Scott McTominay? Who can prove they can lead the team?
Sometimes, how to deal with a player who is going through a difficult patch of form, it's good to show them faith.
"Marcus Rashford needs to be shown faith, maybe he should be captain for the game, and it can be a final test for him to lead the team.
"Rashford could realise that this is his chance to be a leader and the main star at Man United. These moments can elevate players, they just need an arm around their shoulders.
"This would be a point where Rashford realises football is not a fairytale, it's real life and that he needs to grow up to be the main man for the club."
Donny van de Beek has reportedly agreed to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan.
Sky Germany have claimed that a deal has been agreed "in principle".
It is also suggested that terms and structure of the deal are still to be finalised.
It comes just after reports in Germany suggested that a deal could fall through due to wage demands.
Erik ten Hag has revealed that he knows who he will pick as captain for Manchester United's clash against Liverpool
He told club media: "Yes I know [who it will be], "[Will I tell you?] No."
"It is not a secret but, first, I want to tell the player and the team who it is."
Usual skipper Bruno Fernandes will miss out due to suspension.
