My DIY 5-ingredient hair mask will make your locks so shiny – it can improve growth and deal with your dandruff too
A BEAUTY guru with enviably shiny hair has revealed the homemade mask she swears by for keeping her tresses healthy.
She showed the process of making the DIY treatment using affordable ingredients - three of which most people likely already have in their kitchen.
Hair masks are especially beneficial for dry, damaged, or fizzy hair as they restore moisture, according to Healthline.
Most instant conditioners can only stay on locks for a few minutes, while a mask can be kept on for over 20 minutes.
Ready-made options can seem like an easy solution but they are likely to contain chemicals and preservatives.
TikToker Silly Stars (@sillystars18) has just three videos on her account, yet she went viral on the app after revealing her DIY hair mask.
She mixed five affordable ingredients to create a treatment that leaves hair shiny.
In a container, she added one egg, a tablespoon of honey, a tablespoon of natural yogurt, a teaspoon of coconut oil, and a few drops of castor oil.
Eggs cost $2.88, a jar of honey is $7.98, natural yogurt is $1.43, coconut oil is $5.98, and castor oil is $2.78 at Walmart.
The beauty enthusiast said the egg “improves” hair elasticity, honey adds shine, yogurt moisturizes, coconut oil relieves dandruff, and castor oil stimulates growth.
Over 12,000 people liked the video and took to the comment section to reveal they were eager to try it for themselves.
“It actually works, my hair was amazingly silky in the morning,” one person said.
“It’s so good OMG my hair is so pretty, shiny, thick, has volume, please try it out,” another wrote.
“It’s the best hair mask I ever did in my whole damn life. You should try it definitely.”
“How often do you do this?” a third asked.
“I use it every Sunday!” a fellow viewer replied.
The TikToker didn’t reveal how long she left the mask to sit on her hair before rinsing.
According to Medical News Today, the protein in eggs nourishes and promotes shine while the fat enhances softness.
