The anonymous bride u/wickatude shared her wedding dress dilemma in a Reddit post.

"My mom sent me this dress she plans to wear to my wedding. My fiancé says it is too bridal, but I am unsure and want others' opinions please," she requested.

"I haven’t been to a wedding before so I really am not the best with these kinds of things."

The bride shared photos of the dress in question — a floor-length peach ballgown with silver embroidery, spaghetti straps, and a low V-cut neckline.

Additional photos revealed that the dress had a laced corset-style backside with a yellow ribbon.

For comparison, the bride revealed her dress for the big day.

The lacy white gown came attached with a long train and equally long sheer hair veil.

Many felt that the dress was not appropriate for the occasion.

"This dress seems like Mom’s trying to prove she still has 'it.' Very attention-grabbing," said one commenter.

Some were straightforward with what they felt was wrong with the outfit.

"Boobsie. It’s too boobsie," said one bluntly.

"That's the technical term," agreed a second.

Some thought that Mom should wear the dress if only to provide some entertainment for the night.

"My family has the code word 'cupcake' for the person(s) that are inappropriately dressed for a family formal event like a wedding. Our favorite wedding sport was 'spot the cupcake,'" said one commenter.

"It helped make boring events worthwhile. OP's Mom should totally wear this so guests have something to snark on."

Many thought that the dress was better suited for events like a Halloween costume.

"How old is your mom? That's more of a dress for a young bride, not a MOB - in my opinion," said one critic.

"Gravitas and decorum call for a tiny bit more modesty for that age. She needs to realize that it's not her wedding and your wedding is not an excuse to LARP as a twenty-something fairy."

"The flower girls would look lovely in it. It would look delusional when worn by a 60-something mother with chicken wings and all," agreed another.

"Wear what matches your position in life and the occasion. You are not one of the fellow cool kids anymore, Gertrud."

The bride was thankful for all the helpful comments and decided to persuade her mom to go in a different direction.

"Thanks everyone for the advice! I will talk to my mom about wearing another dress," she said.
