I tested a viral two-ingredient DIY face mask for ‘perfect skin,’ the base product is really common in Asian skincare
HOPING to achieve porcelain skin, a beauty aficionado tried out a viral homemade face mask.
It only requires two common kitchen ingredients.
Mireya Rios (@mireyarios) shared her “homemade beauty secret” in a clip and praised the results it brought on.
“It gives you perfect skin,” she began.
The only two things you need? Rice flour and honey.
“Honey has a lot of antioxidants, so it’s good for anti-aging. It hydrates the skin and gives you that glow.”
As for the rice, she said it’s a standard beauty ingredient in some cultures.
“It is really common in Asia for skincare because it has a whitening effect and is also a natural exfoliant.”
Once it was all mixed together, she applied the sticky mask all over her face, letting a thick layer sit on her cheeks, forehead, nose, temples, and chin for 30 minutes.
During those 30 minutes, it got itchy – and she used a fork to scratch when needed, as she revealed in a follow-up video.
Listening to the advice an influencer gave regarding the mask, she said, “Before taking it off, it’s really important to massage the mask into the skin.”
Mireya dipped her fingers in some water and massaged some more, noting that this allowed her to really feel the rice as it gently exfoliated her face.
Although it was a messy endeavor, she said the results were worth it.
“The mask is way easier to remove than I thought. My skin feels amazing. Also, I feel like this acne scar lightened a little bit.”
Viewers were impressed by the results.
“It works so well,” one person praised.
“One of my fav masks,” added another.
