Patel is an award-winning aesthetics practitioner and skincare expert at Intrigue Cosmetic Clinic in Longfield, England.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, he shared little-known methods for defying the visible signs of aging.

MIRACULOUS MIX

Patel recommended using a home beauty treatment to give dry skin some TLC on a budget.

“This hydrating DIY facial mask is super easy to mix up and apply and will give your skin a hydra boost,” he said.

“Take two avocados, a tablespoon of raw honey, and two tablespoons of cocoa powder.

“Mix in a bowl, apply to the face, leave for 20 minutes, and gently wash off with warm water.

“The avocado and cocoa powder stimulates collagen production, and the honey softens and moisturizes the skin.

“Always do a patch test first."

SIMPLE SOLUTIONS

Skincare products should be applied according to their order of thickness and consistency.

Patel recommended waiting a few minutes before applying each layer of serum and leaving SPF until you’re about to leave the house.

A high SPF factor can protect against sun damage which causes wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and age spots.

Retinol and hyaluronic acid are almost as important as sunscreen for an ageless appearance.

“These two ingredients, when combined, refresh and hydrate for more youthful-looking skin and texture by increasing skin cell turnover,” he said.

Drinking lots of water and staying hydrated will also benefit the skin.

"Hyaluronic acid is a great ingredient to add into your twenties skincare.

"It occurs naturally in the body and therefore there is less chance of it causing skin flare-ups.

“Retinol, I would generally recommend this from your mid-thirties upwards because our skin cell production begins to slow down around this age and onwards."

AND THE REST

Smoking, excessive sugar, and alcohol consumption can harm the appearance of the skin.

Patel said staying hydrated by drinking lots of water and getting at least nine hours of quality sleep daily allows for optimum skin cell renewal.

“Detox from your digital devices a few hours before bedtime and develop a relaxing bedtime routine to help you get a solid night's sleep,” he said.

"If a client favors sleeping on one particular side, it can show on the face in facial volume differences.

“The side they sleep on will generally be flatter than the other side.

“Sleeping on your back is best for your face, and using a silk pillow is better than cotton, which can cause a drag on the skin."
