Everyone praises my DIY mask recipe – it hydrates and strengthens damaged hair using 6 cheap ingredients
A BEAUTY enthusiast has revealed the homemade treatment she used to revive her damaged hair.
She mixed six affordable ingredients in a blender to make a mask that hydrates and strengthens tresses.
Niké (@nikeoje) boasts almost 505,000 followers on TikTok, where she shares fashion inspiration and self-care tips.
She shared a DIY hair mask recipe after being asked for a recommendation that uses natural ingredients.
“Hair mask for damaged hair,” read the text over the screen.
She was all smiles as she scooped two tablespoons of mayonnaise into a blender followed by two eggs.
She then used her eyes to gauge how much black castor oil, honey, and extra virgin olive oil to add.
The beauty guru threw in half an avocado before turning on the blender and mixing the ingredients until it became a smooth consistency.
Most of the ingredients can be found for an affordable price at Walmart, such as avocado for $1, extra virgin olive oil for $3.50, and black castor oil for $2.
“This hair mask hydrates and strengthens hair,” Niké said.
She recommended leaving it to sit on the hair for up to an hour before rinsing out.
Over 10,000 people liked the video and many viewers took to the comment section thanking for sharing the tip.
“Definitely trying tomorrow,” one person wrote.
“Does this work for all types of hair?” another asked. “Yes,” Niké replied.
The hair mask recipe comes after research showing that avocados contain natural oils that can be especially helpful for dry hair.
Many people have said their locks felt silkier and stronger after using an avocado mask.
Avocado is also a great source of biotin, according to Healthline, which may help hair to grow more healthy when included in a diet.
Applying honey topically to hair may help to lock in shine, promote growth, and reduce breakage as it contains protein.
