The year’s biggest Pinnochios crossed a line
In so doing, Mr. Kessler joined those who treat former president Donald Trump as ordinary when he is the central figure for lying to the American public. Mr. Kessler complained that Mr. Biden accurately claimed that he reduced the deficit but did not acknowledge that he, nevertheless, increased the national debt. Mr. Trump’s lies are so frequent, so grotesque and so dangerous to the country — beginning, of course, with his claim that the 2020 election was stolen from him — that Mr. Kessler could have had a feature on Mr. Trump alone as the biggest Pinocchio in U.S. history.
