Hong Kong police arrest 2 in connection with fatal hit-and-run in Sham Shui Po
The car owner is currently in police custody.
Details about the second suspect were not immediately available as police said their investigation was still ongoing.
Hong Kong police hunt hit-and-run driver after woman suffers critical injuries
The hit-and-run occurred on Thursday night when police approached the driver of an illegally parked white car on a lane off Castle Peak Road in Sham Shui Po.
The driver was initially identified as a man in his twenties.
The vehicle struck another car as it sped off, mounting a pavement and hitting a 66-year-old woman. She was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital with serious injuries, but was certified dead at 4.58pm the next day.
Two men, surnamed Liu and Chong, were also injured during the incident.
Officers from the Sham Shui Po district crime squad are investigating the case.
Police said the case was being treated as “reckless driving, drug trafficking and driving without a licence” and had not ruled out further arrests.
