Hong Kong police have arrested a woman and two asylum seekers for allegedly assaulting a female teacher in a secondary school last week.

The attack is linked to a suspected love triangle between the 45-year-old teacher and the female suspect, 53, who is the estranged wife of the victim’s boyfriend, according to a source familiar with the matter on Monday.

The insider said two Vietnamese male asylum seekers were the alleged attackers. They have filed non-refoulement claims and are holders of a recognisance form, a temporary identification document issued by the Immigration Department that allows the bearer to stay, but not work, in the city.

The attack took place at the Lions Clubs International Tseung Chui King College on Hing Shing Road in Kwai Chung at around 8am last Wednesday, about half an hour after the teacher was driven to school by her firefighter boyfriend.

The two assailants rushed into the school, went to the first floor and assaulted the victim as she exited the teachers’ room. Police said no weapon was used in the attack.
