‘That’s a LOT of leg for a wedding’ people slate bride’s ‘attention seeking’ sister for ‘inappropriate’ slit dress

A WOMAN has been brutally slammed after showing up to her sister's big day wearing an ''inappropriate'' dress which features a thigh-high slit.

Finding the perfect outfit for someone else's nuptials can be just as stressful and organising the wedding itself - however, one Redditor was convinced she'd achieved just that.

The guest - who was the bride's sibling - had allegedly shown her younger sister, 23, the figure-hugging black frock she was planning on wearing the day before the ceremony.

The bodycon dress, which featured a busty display, as well as a sheer mesh panelling around the waist, also came with a thigh-high split, with her toned legs on show.

But despite the bride at first saying the sparkly number was ''gorgeous'', the reaction was slightly different the next day when the guest, 28, arrived to celebrate the special occasion.

The Reddit user wrote in the post: ''When I arrived to the reception she was a little stunned and came up to me saying something in the lines of 'Oh wow, I didn’t know you were actually gonna wear it and then just laughed but I could see by her face that she had a problem with it.''

According to the young woman, who had paired the dress with a pair of black heels and sparkly jewellery, she could sense that the sister was slightly off towards her - and even fellow attendees of the wedding got involved.

''All throughout the wedding I saw her giving me these strange a** looks.

''And once during the wedding I saw her talking to some people and than at one point they all just stared at me and gave me a nasty ** look.''

Unfortunately for the style lover, who then sought advice from fellow Redditors, the 23-year-old sibling ''hasn’t really been the same'' to her since tying the knot with her partner.

''I honestly don’t think I did anything wrong and think she was overreacting especially since she literally approved of the dress so I don’t know why she changed her mind so fast.''

But although the woman did indeed look fabulous, hundreds of social media users disagreed with the wedding attire, as some raced to slam the ''inappropriate'' dress choice.

I thought I’d found the perfect dress to wear to my friend’s wedding - it looked so cute and flattering… then I turned around

One thought: ''To me it’s not how high the slit is, it’s how wide it is.

''You look great but that is a lot of skin showing for a wedding.

''The fabric gets caught/stuck in the wrong way and I feel like it would be very easy for your butt to be showing.''

Someone else reckoned: ''Good for a NYE party. Not so much a wedding.''

Bridal expert reveals the must-have trends for 2024

Event whizz Tsitsi Lynn Makuni claimed that mini gowns, wearing bows for tying the knot and donning bold accessories are among this season’s must-haves for marriage, The Sun reported earlier.

RING THE CHANGES - brides are opting for not one, but two dresses.

HITCH UP THE SKIRTS - short dresses were a huge hit at the Scottish Wedding Show’s October Catwalk and Tsitsi said more bridal boutiques are now offering shorter styles.

BRIGHT NOT WHITE - white and ivory dresses are no longer a given as more designers offer pastel options, and we will see a demand in more bold colours too.

BE BOLD - the accessories, too, will be as bold as our dresses. Expect to see dramatic headbands, pearl-embellished veils, elegant gloves and retro sunglasses.

TAKE A BOW - from small bows on headpieces and shoes to oversized bows on dresses, this is a wedding trend that’s showing no signs of slowing down, the expert revealed.

Another agreed, writing: ''Gorgeous, yes. Appropriate, no.

''I see why the bride thought you were kidding. This is a great club dress but a terrible wedding guest dress.''

''No one will EVER be upstaged by the bride because everyone knows who the bride is and she will remain centre of attention,'' a fourth shared their thoughts.

''I think it's more the attention you're trying to get on a day that isn't about you.''
