Xi hosts symposium with China’s top entrepreneurs
President Xi Jinping hosted a symposium with private entrepreneurs on Monday in Beijing.
Premier Li Qiang, Wang Huning – head of China’s top political advisory body – and Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang were also present.
Lei Jun, founder of electronics giant Xiaomi, was one of the entrepreneurs seen in a photo from the event released by state news agency Xinhua.
China has made several overtures to private enterprises and investors over the past year to shore up their confidence, as domestic demand remains weak and the external environment brings new challenges with the second term of US President Donald Trump.
Xi delivered a “major speech” after hearing from several business leaders, Xinhua reported, but the details of his address have not yet been made public.
