I created an accent wall using just Dollar Tree & Amazon buys – it’s giving ‘affordable luxury’ and also renter-friendly

AN interior design expert has revealed how she DIYed an accent wall with inexpensive Dollar Tree buys.

Not only did it elevate her room but it was also renter-friendly with a few adjustments.

Rachelle (@rachelledidthat) shared the home project tips in a viral TikTok video.

She explained that with just $60 and a bit of hustle, she was able to transform her blank bedroom wall with an "affordable luxury" look.

Fifteen months after putting up the accent piece, she was able to move out without damaging the walls.

For supplies, she made a quick trip to Dollar Tree to grab 10 foam boards for $12.25.

She lined the edges of her bedroom wall in a frame-like design with the boards, using more boards for a thicker frame and leaving the bottom of the wall empty.

While she used a staple gun to adher the boards, another renter-friendly alternative she recommended was Command Strips.

Once the boards were secured, she added wallpaper of her choice to the center area of the wall.

She chose out a solid cobalt blue design on Amazon, picking up six rolls for $24.

The peel and stick wallpaper made for easy application without needing glue.

Not only was it waterproof but it also came off clean for easy removable.

For the last step, marble contact paper from Amazon elevated the foam boards and tied the whole look together.

"[It] gave the wall that shiny luxury feel," she explained.

Like the wallpaper, the contact paper was easy to apply with a stick-and-peel installation process.

The paper's PVC material also increased its durability and resistance to tearing.

Rachelle was able to pick up three rolls of contact paper for $24.

Decorators were impressed with her DIY and some vowed to try it out.

"This is genius!" said one commenter.

"HGTV come sponsor this girl, video quality is top tier," agreed another.

"Omg this is such a good idea. I’m putting an accent wall in my house right now lol I needed this!" said a third.

One woman was inspired to test the project out on her small room.

"Hold on, I think I can do this but with a smaller area and use the stick and peel tile from Target," she wrote.
