‘This should be against the law’ mum slammed for naming baby a mix of grandparent’s names – but it has very rude meaning

A MUM has been slammed over her decision to name her baby after a mix of her grandparents' names, as she didn't realise the incredibly rude connotations of the word.

The woman's cousin revealed that the 20 year old named her daughter something "so horrific" that the cousin cannot even bring himself to call the baby by her name.

He said that the mum combined the name of her grandparents, Harvey and Charlotte, and came up with 'Harlotte'.

According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a harlot is an old fashioned term for a woman who has sex for money; namely, a prostitute.

Taking to Reddit, the mum's cousin said: "She didn't tell anyone the name until after she was named and the papers were signed.

"My mum shouted, 'you named the baby wh***' and my cousin started screaming.

"We are a loud family but holy hell.

"This poor child".

The cousin revealed that instead of calling the baby by her given name, he had decided to nickname her "piglet" because "she came out very pink and has a puggy nose".

Reddit users flooded the comments section of the post with their thoughts, and many were shocked by the baby's name.

One person said: "How could someone be this dense?

"Do people just not google names before slapping them onto a child?

I gave birth in an Aldi car park after my waters broke on the school run… luckily an off-duty midwife had popped in for some yoghurt

"There should be laws against this."

Another person said: "I hope the mother does the smart thing and rename her Charlotte."

A third person added: "Wow, piglet is surprisingly a more flattering name.

"Never though I’d say that."

A fourth chimed in: "Couldn’t she have combined the names to make Charley instead of Harlotte?

"That poor baby."

A fifth added: "if you’re going to name your child repulsive words like ‘w****,’ then you should be ashamed of yourself.
