Low-flying planes have long been a problem

Regarding the Jan. 20 Metro article “Plane makes emergency landing on highway”:

A Cessna aircraft carrying seven passengers had to make an emergency landing on Loudoun County Parkway around 12:50 p.m. on Jan. 19 after taking off from Dulles International Airport. The plane landed across from an IHOP restaurant on Loudoun County Parkway and hit the guardrail.

According to the fire department, all seven people on board the aircraft escaped without injuries.

The residents of Birchwood at Brambleton, a residential community for older adults, have been in dialogue with the Federal Aviation Administration to change the flight paths of many low-flying aircraft to a path away from residential neighborhoods.

This incident is a very valid and obvious reason the FAA should act quickly to avoid any future major incidents that could result in serious injuries and large lawsuits.
