It is estimated Brits eat around 117 million pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.

And luckily for us, Aldi’s middle aisle this weekend will have us equipped with everything we need to cook up a storm.

The discount supermarket, as part of its bi-weekly Specialbuys deals, is dropping everything from frying pans and measuring jugs to pancake shakers and shapers on Sunday.

The products are designed by its in-house cookware brand, Crofton.

There’ll be a Crofton lemon squeezer, spatula set and batter dispenser for just £2.49 each.

Aldi is also dropping four dedicated pancake pans which come in the following shapes at £9.99 each: Animal Pan, Mini Pancake Pan, Large Crepe Pan or Smiley Face Pan.

If you’re after something more classic, the 28m Crofton Frying Pan will be in middle aisles from Sunday for just £4.99.

Aldi bosses described it as “a helpful pan that will assist you in making your most delicious and scrumptious pancakes yet”.

Three cute bargains are the Crofton Flamingo Pancake Ring and the Crofton Pancake Shapes in unicorn or flamingo for £2.49 each.

Aldi is also releasing large pancake turners for £2.49, measuring jugs for £2.99 and a “pancake bottle” for £2.49.

If you need something to wipe the mess up with, bosses have also tipped that new Terry tea towels will be in some middle aisles.

A five pack of Crofton Terry Tea Towels will set you back £3.99.

“A must-have set for your kitchen so that you're always ready to dry up,” a blurb on them reads.

“A classic and helpful kitchen accessory that you'll use on a regular basis.”

Shrove Tuesday is Christian festival that marks the beginning of Lent.

Lent is the 40-day period of fasting that is meant to remind us of Jesus' time being tempted by the devil in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights before his death.

Traditionally, pancakes are eaten on this day to use up goods such as sugar, fats and eggs before Lent begins.

The celebration dates as far back as 1000 AD.
