Five features I would never have in my home as an interior designer – the shower mistake will stink up your bathroom
AN interior designer has shared the common household features she avoids at all costs.
The expert explained that some of her choices even make your home more difficult to clean.
In her video, Jessica Ritchie (@jessicaritchiedesign) shared her reasoning behind each pick.
For her first tip, the TikToker recommended avoiding shorter curtains on your windows.
"Curtains that don’t touch the floor make windows look smaller," she explained.
Jessica also tackled another window feature which she said she would personally steer clear of.
"Venetian blinds [are] so hard to clean, and easy to bend or break," she told her audience.
"Plus, they’re so noisy [because] the loose strings flap everywhere."
Instead, she recommended opting for shutters for the windows in your home.
"[They're] much neater and are secured without strings hanging down rattling," she said.
Interior design features to avoid
- Short curtains
- Venetian blinds
- Live, laugh, love decor
- Mirrored splash backs
- Linear shower drains
Next, Jessica showed her followers an example of live, laugh, love decor, which she is also not a fan of.
"I don’t need to say anything," the interior enthusiast joked.
She also advised her viewers against opting for a certain splashback in their kitchens.
"Mirrored splashbacks show every fingerprint and cooking splatter so don’t get [them] if you don’t want to clean them all the time," Jessica said.
Finally, she revealed the shower feature that can stink up your entire bathroom.
"Linear shower drains [are] absolutely horrible to clean [and they] smell bad," she explained.
"And if they don’t line up correctly with your tile grout it will throw the whole thing off."
