I’m A Celeb’s Nigel Farage forced to take a bodyguard out on smoking breaks after being ‘targeted’

NIGEL Farage is forced to take a security guard with him on his fag breaks at GB News over fears he may be targeted by the far left.

During his years in the public eye, activists have at times become hostile, including one well-publicised approach by anti-Ukip protesters in 2015 when the politician was trying to enjoy a Sunday roast with his family.

The Sun can reveal that even now Nigel, 59, is forced to take steps to secure his own safety.

A source said: “Nigel might not have been in politics for a little while but he remains a target of far left extremists.

"He naturally therefore has taken steps to ensure his safety and that means security cover at key times when he may be deemed vulnerable.”

Nigel was voted Best New Presenter for his work at GB News since he joined in July 2021.

His daily show is filmed at the channel’s headquarters in London’s Paddington.

A source added: “Public feeling towards Nigel is largely positive these days.

“The most trouble the security guards get tends to be from Nigel’s new younger fans who study at the nearby Marylebone Boys School.”

The Sun has approached Nigel’s team for comment.

In 2015 Farage was forced to flee his local pub when protestors in fancy dress interrupted a family lunch.

The then-Ukip leader called the demonstrators “scum”, claiming they had caused his children distress.

The group, however, said they were holding a “cabaret of diversity” in support of those Ukip was seeking to marginalise.

Farage was with his then-wife and two children Victoria and Isabelle when the demonstrators arrived at the Queens Head pub in Downe, Kent.

Farage said afterwards: “I hope these ‘demonstrators’ are proud of themselves. My children were so scared by their behaviour that they ran away to hide.”

The campaigners were from the group called Ukip – Beyond Diversity, and included migrants, HIV activists, gay people, disabled people and breastfeeding mothers, they said.

It comes after tonight, Nigel will take part in the first food trial of I'm A Celeb with YouTube sensation, Nella Rose.

Nigel and Nella were picked by the public to take on the first trial - and it looks like it won’t disappoint.

In a first look at tonight’s episode, Nella is seen laughing at Nigel while he tucks into a Marga –teet-a, which is made from a camel udder with a cows teat.

As he stars chowing down, Nella gasps through giggles: “Oh Farage.”

Nigel didn’t seem surprised when he discovered he would be taking on the gruesome trial.
