I earn thousands a month & live in a council house – I know people are struggling but it doesn’t mean I can’t succeed

A WOMAN who's about to move into a four-bed council house has hit back at people criticising her for living in one while earning a "few grand" a month.

Mum-of-two Beth has made a name for herself on social media, and it has become her full-time job in recent years.

While things didn't start off as successfully as they are now, she's now in a position where she's been able to get on a rent to buy scheme and is moving from her two-bed council house to a four-bed in August.

In a video on TikTok, Beth opened up about how she was able to get onto the scheme, as she explained she had passed a financial check with her housing officer ahead of moving into a bigger home.

"Shock horror I passed," she said.

"And this was last year, so this was when I was earning just a few grand a month.

"I was still with Universal Credit, may I add."

The remark didn't go down too well with everyone, with one person commenting: "Earning a few GRAND and living in a council house?"

Beth then responded in another video, as she said: "Well I clearly weren't on that much when I moved into my council house but so what if I was?

"I don't understand why people get… jealous. That's the only thing it could be.

"Like, I'm sorry some people are struggling but it doesn't mean some people can't succeed in life either."

She said that when she initially moved into the two-bed house 18 months ago, she was on tax credits, and then moved over to Universal Credit.

People say I’m a ‘waste of council housing’ and I have a full-time job - I’m sick of being judged, it's disgusting

"I was earning £500, £600 a month," she said.

"I was doing social media at the same time.

"I've been doing this for six years and only since the back end of last year, I've been earning a couple of grand a month.

"Which is £2,000 a month.

"Jesus Christ, it's not f**king bank breaking.

"But now, it's a bit more than that.

"And I'm going to get on a rent to buy scheme and put my money into something that I can say, 'Yeah I did that'.

"I can invest my money into something."

She also revealed that she's going to be "getting better than what I had".

"I had a s**ty old two bed and, as much as I've loved this house, we've outgrown it," she continued.

"And I'm moving forward, getting further in life, and I don't see why people say 'Earning a few grand a month and live in a council house?'

"What the f**k is wrong with that? We have to start from somewhere, don't we.

"So all I can smell is jealousy and it's not it!"
