Sir David Jason shocks Only Fools fans as he revives Del Boy and flogs iconic piece of his costume
TWO of Del Boy’s dusty cloth caps from the hit BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses have sold for the pucker price of over £10,000 at auction.
TV legend Sir David Jason was left stunned at the weekend when one lucky fan stumped up £7,600 for one of his market trader hats - then bought another for £3,000 just 24 hours later.
Sir David, 83, dressed as Del to meet fans at the annual two-day Only Fools and Horses Appreciation Society convention in Milton Keynes.
But Fools fans say Sir David was gobsmacked when a mystery admirer dug deep to buy both hats - which would cost a cushty £10 from any market stall.
Rocking up in Del’s famous yellow Reliant Robin for the convention, Sir David, told other fans trying to bid for the caps not to worry.
In true Del Boy fashion, he said: “Oi, oi, no need to worry - I’ve got 25 of these in the back of the van.”

But Sir David couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the price of his hat up for sale on the first day of the convention on Saturday sell for £7,600 - telling fans: “Bloody hell. Wonderful!
"I don’t feel like selling it now.”
Fan Joanne Martin who attended the event, said: “It was such an amazing moment to witness. The room was silent.”
Fellow Fools fanatic Karen Giles said: “The first one went for £7,600 and they sold another for £3K! The same man bought both.”
Sir David attended the auction fresh after undergoing his hip operation last year.
The star posed for photos in a mocked up version of Del Boy’s famous Peckham flat for some fans who paid as much as £450 for the day.
The convention was postponed in August when Sir David revealed he needed an operation to install a “bionic body part” - which was later revealed to be his hip.
In November he appeared on Lorraine to share that the surgery had been successful and he shared a clip where he dramatically discarded his crutches.
