The special will be his first major TV appearance since his hip replacement op earlier this year.

And he’ll be joined by a line-up of regulars from the Nags Head boozer.

A TV source said: “It wouldn’t be Christmas without the Trotters, so this is a great way for viewers to get their Only Fools fix.

“Producers were delighted when David was passed fit to appear following his surgery, so the special will be cushty for fans.”

In the documentary, screening on Channel 5, David will recall iconic moments from the beloved sitcom, which first aired in 1981, as well as secrets from festive sets.

His on-screen wife Tessa Peake-Jones, who played Raquel, will also appear, along with celebrity fans including Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis plus Strictly hopeful and newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy.

Only Fools And Horses ended in 2003 and is synonymous with the TV Christmas schedules, having notched up record-breaking audience figures.

Sir David remains invested in his most famous character, regularly attending Only Fools And Horses conventions, to the delight of fans.

However, his hip surgery forced organisers to postpone the latest get-together. Now recovered, Sir David is expected to make the rescheduled event early next year.

Lauding his new “bionic hip” last month, David said: “I am fine. I’m having a little trouble getting the muscles back because I was so infirm for two to three weeks.

“I wasn’t using the legs at all. That’s where I am at now, getting it back, doing some exercises. But the hip itself is wonderful.”

Sounds like some pukka gear.

KEEP ON KICKING, ANGELA

STRICTLY’S Angela Rippon has promised she’s not done working yet.

The Rip-Off Britain presenter was awarded the TRIC Outstanding Achievement Award earlier this week for her near-six-decade long telly career.

And she has no plans to slow down at 79, proving a point to former BBC director general John Birt who told her to step down when she turned 50.

Accepting the award, Angela said: “It’s actually now 57 years since I started doing broadcasting.

“One message to John Birt, when I was 50, he said to me, ‘Angela, now that you’re 50, you’ve had your day, and it’s time to make way’.

“I’m now 79, and I ain’t finished yet!”

Oi, you’re well pout of line, Gino boy

GINO D’ACAMPO lands a new girlfriend – as he finds a cheeky way to jump the queue at a fish market.

The TV chef planted a surprise kiss on a lady in front of him while shooting a Christmas special for his ITV1 travel series Gino’s Italy: Secrets Of The South.

Filming in the Adriatic port city of Bari, in the Puglia region, Italian Gino tells the cameras: “I need fish, and to beat the market queues it’s time to turn on the charm.”

As shoppers wait their turns, Gino finds a willing target for his schmooze and tells the woman: “I don’t have a number, so let’s do it this way – I’m with you. I’ll pretend to be your boyfriend.

“We’re number six. Remember, I’m your boyfriend – otherwise I will have to queue.”

As eyebrows are raised and things threaten to kick off, Gino defends himself by cosying up to the mystery lady and declaring: “We got engaged this morning.”

He’s then offers more of the same to other women in the queue, before escaping with his fish.

I doubt his wife will be best pleased.

You can watch his antics on ITV1 on December 17.
