UK weather: Met Office warns of heavy flooding and possible power cuts for parts of Britain – with snow on the way
THE Met Office has warned heavy flooding and possible power cuts are set to lash parts of the UK tomorrow.
A two day yellow weather warning has been issued - with Brits urged to stay safe amid possible traffic chaos just days after drivers were forced to abandon their cars.
The weather alert covers large parts of north western Scotland and is in force from 6pm on Saturday and lasts until midnight on Sunday.
The Met Office has warned there is "a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services" to some homes and businesses.
Meanwhile, "spray and flooding is likely" to spark some traffic and difficulty on the road, with possible closures.
"Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely," the warning adds.

Torrential downpours may bring "a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads".
The unsettled weather could also cause delays and cancellations to public transport services so it is important to check your route before travelling.
Met Office Chief Forecaster, Paul Gundersen, explained: "Later next week and the days running up to Christmas there are some suggestions that the jet stream will drift further south, allowing conditions to turn more widely unsettled.
"There is also a chance of winds switching to more of a northwesterly direction, allowing conditions to become a little colder, with a risk of some wintry showers developing in the north.
"At this stage there is very little sign of any widespread or severe cold and wintry weather.”
For the rest of the UK weather patterns are expected to stay reasonably dry and mild this weekend.
Met Office Meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth, said: "There will be quite a lot of dry weather in central and southern areas and that's because we have high pressure building in from the south.
"There will be exceptionally mild air building in from the tropics."
But, Brits are still in for a cold start on Friday morning, with mist and fog covering central and southern areas.
Meanwhile, snow has also been predicted for some of the UK in the days leading up to Christmas.
Higher parts of northern areas are forecast to see the white stuff, however it is not expected to settle for long.
"Late in the week potential for a mild spell in the south as rain moves in with some small amounts of hill snow in the north before a period of more north or north-westerly winds with showers across coasts and turning wintry over hills," predicted the Met Office long range forecast.
The weather warning comes after Brits were issued more than 30 flood alerts across the UK yesterday.
Heavy rain has wreaked havoc and traffic chaos as drivers were forced to abandon their cars after becoming submerged under floodwater.
Emergency services, including paramedics and crew from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, were called out to Buttsbury Wash to help a woman trapped in a flood.
