UK weather: Wind & showers batter Britain as Met Office warns of ‘wet and windy’ washout weekend
WIND and showers will batter Britain today with flood warnings in place - but temperatures are set to stay mild.
The Met Office said that the weather will still be "mild, wet and windy" today.
Heavy rain will fall on already waterlogged ground in many parts of the country.
The Environment Agency has issued more than 200 flood warnings and alerts throughout England.
It said that there could be flooding across parts of the south, Midlands and north west today.
And the risk of floods could persist for the next five days, sparking travel chaos.

In Scotland nine flood alerts and ten flood warnings are in place, as well as four flood alerts in south west Wales.
Today rain will push across Scotland, with frequent and heavy showers forecast elsewhere.
But in eastern England the low cloud will eventually make way for sunny spells.
Tonight will see an uneven mix of showers, clear spells, wind, cloud and rain.
Tomorrow will be unsettled, with a band of wind and rain working slowly across England and Wales during the day.
The outlook for Sunday is much the same, but there could be gales in some places.
Monday will be slightly drier before the showers return on Tuesday.
