We live in a van, even when it’s freezing and have 6 fool-proof ways to keep warm – change your curtains for a start

A COUPLE have revealed that they live in a van, even when it’s freezing.

Court and her partner Nate previously shared that they were in debt and were so fed up with spending thousands of pounds a month on rent, so they decided to buy and stay in a van instead.

The van dwellers live and work on the road and claimed that thanks to their van lifestyle, the pair have been able to save over £65,000 on “traditional rent”.

But with the weather getting colder, the pair have now shared their six fool-proof ways to keep warm, as they explained: “How we stay warm in our van during the winter.”

Posting on social media, Court said: “Today I'm going to show you guys some ways we stay warm in our van during the colder months.”

Firstly, Court explained that insulation is key when living in a van, as she claimed: “Our van is well insulated with sheep's wool.”

As well as this, she claimed that they have a heater that keeps them cosy, as she added: “We have a propane heater that sits underneath this cabinet.”

Not only this, but Court shared a simple trick, that could help out many people out this winter, not just those living in a vehicle.

She explained: “We have thermal curtains that help keep some of that cold air from the cab from entering the back of the van.”

Similarly, they have also made sure the heat stays in their van by covering their windows, as she revealed: “And window covers for all of our windows to help keep the heat in.”

It might sound obvious, but to this couple, warm clothing is key, as Court shared: “We make space inside of the van for warm clothes like thermal layers, cosy slippers, beanies, extra blankets and lots of jackets.”

Finally, the savvy woman shared a fun tip that keeps her warm during the colder months, as she concluded: “But the most effective way to stay warm is to travel to places that don't get too cold during the winter.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @courtandnate, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 122,500 views.

Social media users were impressed with the simple tips and tricks and many took to the comments to express this.

One person said: “That’s so cool.”

Another added: “The last tip is the best one.”

Whilst a third tagged a loved one and penned: “See what if we did something like this…”

But Court and Nate aren't the only ones who have shared how they keep warm whilst living in a van.

Jessy Muller, who lives a nomad lifestyle and is known online as ‘Slow Roamer’, previously explained that she lives in an old van, and to stay warm in the winter, not only does she swear by adding insulation to your floor, but she also advises people to try her window hack to keep the cold air out.

She explained: "Ways to keep warm in the winter without a heater.

“Adding another layer of insulation to your floor can really help to keep it warm inside."

She then suggested: “If you live on the road, reflectix is a must have. It keeps the heat out on hot days by reflecting the sun, but it also adds another layer of insulation on cold days to keep the cold out.

“I have one cut to fit for every single window.”

If that’s not enough, this woman also suggested using blankets in front of doors and at the bottom of doors too, as she continued: “Another thing you can do to keep the cold air out is hang a blanket in front of your door."

Whilst she also explained: "If you have a cold night ahead of you, a hot water bottle under the blankets can really make a difference."
