As it was revealed that Love Island: The Games was not filmed live, but was pre-recorded, many have been left wondering whether All Stars is the same.

It might be reality TV, but the episodes of Love Island: All Stars are pre-recorded.

However, there is a very practical reason for this.

In order to package the juiciest and most entertaining bits up into those one-hour episodes, the producers need time to go through all the footage.

This means everything you see on your screens was filmed a day or two in advance.

In fact, there are 69 cameras located in the villa to catch the goings-on from every angle - meaning a lot of footage.

Is love Island All Stars ever shown live?

Yes, the finals will be shown live.

It has been reported that, rather than the usual 6-8 week run for Love Island, All Stars will only be on screen for five weeks.

The rumoured shortened series comes as ITV bosses confirmed that the infamous second villa Casa Amor will play no part in the spin-off.

The series started on January 15, which means the series should finish on or around Monday, February 19.

Where is Love Island All Stars filmed?

Viewers of the previous winter edition of the show will be familiar with the villa as All Stars is filmed in the same location.

The Magnus villa in South Africa has been used for the past few years to film the winter version.

The villa is based in the Franschhoek wine valley in the Western Cape of South Africa.

The property comes complete with pool, terrace, fire-pit and views of the mountains.

There are also outdoor showers, an outdoor kitchen, a running track and a rugby pitch.

The garden also comes with a beach hut for those all-important private conversations.

The ITV producers said they had gone for the “Miami, Versace vibes” for the new mansion.

“It’s like Gold Member. It’s very glam and camp”, executive producer Mike Spencer told The Sun, “It’s really the same thing, but different.

Love Island but a bit more grown-up than usual.”

There’s a high-end hotel look to the interiors and extra beds in the house and in the hideaway in case the grown ups need to lie down.
