BBC Breakfast’s Jon Kay takes brutal swipe at Morning Live host Gethin Jones’ appearance – leaving co-star open-mouthed
BBC Breakfast star Jon Kay took a brutal swipe at Morning Live presenter Gethin Jones' outfit choice live on air.
The 54-year-old’s co-host Sally Nugent was gobsmacked and warned him he may have crossed a line during the exchange.
BBC Breakfast star Jon stirred up trouble on Wednesday morning’s (March 13) instalment of the BBC news programme as he took a bold jab at Gethin's stripy outfit.
During the show's crossover, Gethin and co-star Kym Walsh beamed into the BBC studio to give viewers at home a sneak peek at what was coming up on their Morning Live show, which aired at 9:30 a.m.
The pair informed fans that they would be catching up with Radio 1 host Mollie King on her Red Nose Day cycling challenge as she will be attempting to cycle 500km from London to Hull in five days to raise money for Comic Relief ahead of Red Nose Day on Friday.
During the brief crossover, Gethin donned a black zipped sweatshirt with white stripes across his chest, while Kym sported a red jumper and wide-leg trousers with a black and white stripe down the middle.

Jon’s co-star Sally clocked that both Morning Live presenters were wearing stripes.
She said: "Loving the stripes both. I like the way you've coordinated there." Kym said: "Thank you," while Gethin proudly said: "[You're] welcome".
Jon then cheekily interjected: "It's like a pedestrian crossing, isn't it? Live from BBC One at 9:30am, Morning Live."
Gethin and Kym took no offence to the comment and laughed it off while Sally looked around the studio in shock.
She said: "I hope they speak to us after this," before adding: "Good job they've gone. They can't hear us now, for sure..."
Jon then joked: "Always make the dig in at the end", to which Sally replied: "Exactly!".
Gethin and Jon are known for occasionally making lighthearted digs at each other during their programme crossovers.
Most recently, the BBC Breakfast star locked horns with the Morning Live presenters as he swiped: "Pull the pug!"
It all began when the presenters said they had an "early start", to which Jon couldn't resist taking a jab at them.
He acted stunned and said: "Are you really? Are you really suggesting that you have an early start?"
Jon then joked: "Pull the plug, please!"
The BBC Breakfast presenters start their show at 6:30 am, while Morning Live on BBC One doesn't kick off until 9:30am.
