The Chase’s Anne Hegarty reveals every TV show she’s banned from – and the two rival quizzes she turned down
THE Chase star Anne Hegarty has opened up about every TV show she's "not allowed" to participate in, as well as the two rival quiz shows she has turned down.
The 65-year-old quiz genius has appeared on the ITV quiz, which is fronted by Bradley Walsh, since 2010, with viewers at home recognising her as The Governess.
As a chaser on the ITV show The Chase, Anne usually competes against contestants in a general knowledge test.
The main aim of her game is to stop the players from building up their prize fund and walking home with an eye-watering cash prize.
However, even though she may be exceptionally talented at quizzes, Anne recently revealed that she can’t appear on other game shows due to her commitments to The Chase.
Anne explained ahead of the TV Choice Awards 2024: “The trouble is I’m not allowed to do any others.

"I mean, I got tapped up for Celebrity Mastermind a few years ago, and the producer was like, ‘Absolutely not, we are not letting you do it’.
“I was invited on an Only Connect team before I got the job at The Chase, and I had to turn it down because I didn’t think The Chase would like it if I got the job.”
Anne also admitted to OK! Magazine that she would love to see Stephen Fry, who previously hosted QI, take on the chasers.
She said: “I always say, wouldn’t it be fantastic if we had Stephen Fry on, but I bet he wouldn’t do it.”
Anne has already appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, where she spent 19 days in the jungle, so the chaser is no stranger to intense reality shows.
Last year, the TV star revealed she turned down Dancing On Ice to take part in panto.
She told The Mirror: “I did have a try-out for Dancing On Ice because I would love to learn to ice skate.
“It was then discovered it was going to clash with panto, and the experience of being on a stage, working with an audience, getting to act and sing and be funny… I really valued that.
"I mean, I would just be one of those people who would be towed around behind a penguin and never actually let go. It would be quite sad.”
But most recently, Anne was forced to speak out after fans accused her of cheating on the show.
The chaser rubbished the claims and revealed that the ITV gameshow is assessed by ‘independent adjudicators.’
The Chase airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX at 5pm.
