Biden will visit storm-ravaged North Carolina in wake of Hurricane Helene

US President Joe Biden said he plans to travel to storm-ravaged North Carolina on Wednesday to view the toll from Hurricane Helene.

Biden said he will travel to Raleigh to meet officials and take an aerial tour of Asheville while limiting his footprint to avoid distracting the recovery efforts.

He earlier said that the federal government would be with survivors and others in the nation’s southeast affected by Helene “as long as it takes”.

Western North Carolina residents faced a “post-apocalyptic” landscape on Monday in the wake of Helene, with hundreds of people still missing and residents struggling amid flooded roads and a lack of basic services.
