‘You’re fleecing poor parents’ people rage after man clears the Home Bargains shelves to make £60 for five minutes’ work

A MAN who cleared the shelves of swimming nappies to sell on at a profit has been slammed for "taking advantage of parents during a cost of living crisis".

Tom makes tonnes of money through retail arbitrage, and is always on the lookout for items that will be profitable for him.

Home Bargain is "the best shop in the UK" to find some absolute gems, Tom explained in a video on his TikTok page.

"So when you first walk into the store the best discounts are usually near the front," he said.

He demonstrated just how he did it as he picked up a pack of Huggies Swim Nappies, and scanned the barcode to see how much it was on Amazon.

He then discovered that the nappies are selling on the website for £9.23.

And given that they are just £2.99 each in Home Bargains, he can make around £2.44 profit per unit - once postage and other costs are taken care of.

"There's around 30 on the shelves," he said.

Nabbing all of them, he added: "That's £60 for five minutes' work!"

But lots of people in the comments section were unimpressed with Tom's money-making scheme.

"Yep, let's charge parents even more in the cost of living," one raged.

"Can you leave some on the shelf please for poor people like us?" another said.

"Or leave them for people who can’t afford the ridiculous Amazon price," a third commented.

"So people who can't afford to shop anywhere else now have to go without our pay 3x the price on Amazon?" someone else wrote.

"That's a shame its going to kill cheap items for poor people, the prices will go up or it will empty the shelves for people who need," another added.

"Why there's never any bargains left!" someone else sighed.

"Broken system. How is is okay to mark something up like that?" another wrote.

"If you're doing that to baby products, then you really have no morals," someone else slammed.

"Ripping off new parents... nice," another raged.

"So what you are actually doing is denying people money saving deals?" someone else said sarcastically.

"Targeting generally the poorest. Good one."

"Nothing like fleecing single mothers," another laughed.

As someone else commented: "Cracks me up. Leave the baby stuff.

"Would literally steal from their own nans for a quid profit."

"If you're buying on sale baby items just to make yourself money then you're scum," another wrote.

"There'll be parents out there that actually need them for their kid!"
