The mum shared an insight into her money making side hustle via a video posted to social media.

She said that she charges £15 for each load of laundry, plus an extra £1.50 to help with the cost of fuel.

Katie added that she is able to fit two separate laundry orders in her washing machine, meaning she gets paid £30 for every load of washing she does.

The stay at home mum revealed it takes her around 20 minutes to fold all of the laundry, and then 40 minutes to drive to wear she needs to drop it off.

She added that she can expense the cost of using the washing machine (which she said is about £1 per load) and the washing detergent (about 6p per load).

She also expenses any fuel costs not covered by the £1.50 charge.

The mum added that she does not count the time that the clothes are in the wash as work because it is not "physical labour".

She said: "During that time, I'm tending to my kids, I'm making meals, I'm doing bath time".

All in all, Katie makes about £30 for an hours work.

She also said that clients often tip her when she gives them back their laundry.

"Working from home with your kids has never been easier", she said.

"This job fits seamlessly into my life as a stay at home mum and has made a great life for me and my babies.

"I am very grateful."

Katie's video, which was posted under the username @laundrycares, has clearly left many impressed, as it has racked up over 896,000 views on the video sharing platform.

TikTok users raced to the video's comments section to share their thoughts on Katie's side hustle.

Are you taxed on side hustle earnings?

Plenty of households are taking on side hustles such as babysitting or setting up an eBay store to boost their earnings.

And luckily, you can use a "trading allowance" which means you don't have to pay tax on any yearly gross income of £1,000 or less.

However, if you do earn over the £1,000 threshold, you will have to declare it to HMRC.

You can claim a trading allowance via Self-Assessment on the Government's website.

First you need to inform them you're a sole trader and tell them how much you earn in income, when you started and who you are.

HMRC will then send you a UTR number which you can use to submit a Self-Assessment tax return.

The tax year runs from April 6 to April 5 of the following year, and the deadline to pay is the following January 31.
