Hong Kong police arrest boy, 13, over videos of reckless motorcycle stunts

According to the insider, the boy has been released on bail pending further investigation.

The force said online footage showed a teenage boy wearing a white T-shirt, shorts and flip-flops riding a motorbike without a helmet along the Yuen Long section of Castle Peak Road and Shui Che Kwun Street last Friday.

An investigation had found the motorcyclist had swerved between the roads and the pavements.

The videos also showed the bike had no number plate, with another boy riding on the back without a helmet.

“In the videos, a teenage rider was driving a motorcycle on the road in a dangerous way. He was not wearing a helmet, and he also had a passenger with him,” the force wrote on Facebook.

“He also broke traffic rules by jumping a red light. It’s really risky.”

Stressing that “the road is not a place to play or race around”, police said the boy’s behaviour could have caused a serious accident or injuries.

Police also warned that the suspect’s guardian could be held criminally responsible for the neglect of a child – an offence punishable by up to 10 years in jail.

Officers from the New Territories North traffic unit are investigating the case.
