I tried a one-second viral trick to see if my batteries were dead, I didn’t think it would work but my mind was blown

A HACK enthusiast has tried a unique method to see if your batteries are still good to use or dead.

He mentioned in a TikTok video that he didn't think the trick would work, but he was shocked by the outcome.

Dustin Hadley (@that40yearguy) is a man in his 40s who debunks myths and shares viral tips online.

He showed in a video how he was able to figure out whether or not his batteries were dead in only one easy step.

"All ya gotta do is bounce it," he wrote in the video caption.

He briefly remixed another woman's clip that said that if your battery bounced it was "no good."

"I've never seen this, heard of this. That if a battery bounces, it's dead. And if it doesn't bounce, it's still alive," he explained.

Dustin decided to try the "insane" task to see if it worked as effectively as she said.

He invited viewers into his home as he tested out four batteries.

The first two were from the same brand and the other two were from another brand.

It was apparent that the first two bounced a few times off the counter, while the second two just fell flat almost immediately.

To double-check the trick's effectiveness, he took the ones that were supposedly dead and put them in a television remote.

No lights came up.

He did the same thing with the ones that didn't bounce and were supposedly active, and the light did come up.

Dustin was visibly stunned as his mind was blown by the easy hack.

Viewers offered additional suggestions and feedback in the comment section of the video.

"When your batteries stop working, take them out and roll them in the palm of your hands really fast and the acid gets stale. They will start working again. I get at least double the life from my batteries," one advised.

"Learned this in the joint [jail]," another shared.

"Technically as batteries lose strength they get lighter which makes them a bit bouncy," a TikTok user wrote.

"My hearing aid batteries do the same thing. That’s how we know what’s bad or good," another added.
