Inside Emmerdale’s Lisa Dingle star Jane Cox’s life as on-screen husband Steve Halliwell passes away

LISA Dingle was the fan favourite on-screen wife of Zak Dingle, before her character died of amyloidosis on Emmerdale.

Jane Cox revealed the reason behind her being axed from the soap, saying the punishing six day a week filming schedule had gotten overwhelming after 23 years on the soap.

Sadly Steve Halliwell, who played her husband for so many years, has tragically passed away today.

It was another death in Jane's personal life that actually made her think about leaving the Dales behind.

She previously shared that when her mum passed away, she started to rethink what she was spending her time on.

The 71-year-old added: "It is long, long days and then you don’t have time in the evenings because you have lines to learn for the next day.

"As you get older life feels shorter – although of course I am going to live to 150!"

After quitting Emmerdale, the soap star took some time to herself before moving on to her next venture.

In an interview with Inside Soap, she revealed: "Well, I wanted to slow down a bit, and I’m currently doing a course in reflexology.

"I’m available for acting roles, but at the moment I’m just chilling – which is a luxury for me."

Reflexology is a special type of massage which is meant to have health benefits such as boosting your immune system, clearing up sinus issues, and reducing anxiety.

It seems that Jane is taking her commitment to the quiet life seriously, as she confirmed to Digital Spy that she has no plans to go on any reality shows in the future.

"I wouldn't do that," she said firmly. "I've got my own private life, I'm an actor more. I don't consider myself to be a celebrity in that way."
