But one savvy woman named Crystal has proven that you haven't got to fork out a small fortune to make a huge change in your home.
Instead, she's been flooded with praise after revealing how she gave her plain white bathroom a super stylish modern update all while on a budget.
The transformation cost her just £60 - and it's all thanks to a bargain buy from B&Q.
Crystal explained how she snapped up some grey floor tiles from the DIY store, before applying them to her wall instead.

Deciding to get creative, she took to TikTok (@crystal.jewell3) and showed off the plain white square tiles behind her bathtub.
"I stuck sticky floor tiles to my wall," she says.
Moments later, the savvy mum-of-two covered her hand over the screen before revealing her handiwork.
And it's no wonder people were seriously impressed, with one person admitting they're "obsessed" with the finished result and others rushing out to replicate Crystal's handy decorating hack.
The post has since gone viral, garnering a whopping 104k views and several comments from social media users.
"I'm definitely going to do it now. Was thinking about it few times but was worried they will peel off," wrote one.
Sharing her top tip, Crystal, who noted that she used silicone around the edge, advised: "Use extra mastic on the back and grout between lines."
A second asked: "Did you seal it with anything?"
The DIY whizz responded: "I didn’t seal with anything but I used mastic to stick to wall so it was extra strong and just used grout between lines. Been up nearly two years with no sign of wear."
A third commented: "Think I going to try this hate my bathroom tiles."
Meanwhile, a fourth questioned: "How easy was it to grout?"
Crystal confirmed: "Very easy I still used tile spacers."
