Who is Strictly Come Dancing professional Carlos Gu and who has he been partnered with?

STRICTLY Come Dancing 2024 is just around the corner and contestants will be taking on the challenge of the dancefloor.

Carlos Gu is returning as one of the professionals who will teach celebrities how to dance. Here's everything you need to know about the pro.

Who is Strictly Come Dancing professional Carlos Gu?

Born in China in 1993, Carlos Gu is a Chinese National Champion.

Carlos has experience in ballroom, ballet and contemporary dance which he brings to the Strictly dance floor.

He placed third at the German Open Championship and became Amateur Latin Rising Star Runner Up at the UK Open in 2017.

Carlos often competes with his professional dance partner Susan Sun, and the pair can be seen on social media travelling the world together.

When did Carlos Gu join Strictly Come Dancing?

Carlos was one of four new professional dancers that joined the show for Strictly's 2022 series.

It was revealed he was part of the pro line-up, along with Latin dancing champ Michelle Tsiakkas, former Under 21 British National Champion Lauren Oakley, and Italia Latin American Champion Vito Coppola.

Announcing the news on Twitter, the BBC said: "Welcome Carlos, Lauren, Michelle and Vito who join the show and become part of the biggest pro line-up in #Strictly history!"

When asked about joining Strictly, Carlos told the BBC: "I’m thrilled to join Strictly and very excited to get started.

"It’s a new chapter of my life and a new challenge as well. I’m absolutely ready to take on this journey and to shine."

The dancer uses the platform to post his impressive dance routines, and also share pictures of the competitions he takes part in - including all his Strictly snaps.

He also used it to pay tribute to the late Queen saying he was a "huge fan of the Royal family".

He posted that she was a "great woman of all time".

He added: "I am devastated but take comfort that you are reunited with Prince Philip, the love of your life.

"Rest in the peace that you so deserve , knowing you will never be forgotten. Your devoted subject Carlos."
