"So me and my husband have been feeling under the weather," she wrote over the top of her TikTok video.

"We just discovered this in our toilet tank.

"What should we do?"

The pipes and inside of the tank was almost completely covered in black mould, while the water inside had a grimy film over the top.

"Where in the world do I even start?" she captioned her video.

People were quick to comment on the clip, with one writing: "Definitely replace.

"Sanitise your home and make sure you don’t have black mould in other places (you probably do)."

"This is common, you drain the tank (turn off the water supply & flush), wash it out with vinegar, and refill," another added.

"You get a bleach tablet to put in the tank, AFTER you scrub it clean," a third said.

"Keep more tablets on hand too."

"You need to empty the water and clean the in side of the toilet and when you are done with that you need to fill with hot water and flush it 3 or 4 times," someone else said.

"Don’t drink out of the toilet," another wrote sarcastically.

Adding: "Maybe flush it after you use the bathroom!"

"Do y'all not flush?" someone else asked.

To which the woman responded in another video, in which she offered a closer look inside the tank.

"The lid was keeping in the mould," she added.

"We use this toilet all the time."

And others urged the woman to get professional help - both from a plumber and a doctor.

"No one in this comments section understands how bad mould exposure is," one wrote.

"You don't have to drink the water, there's poison inside your home."

"The amount of people who don’t understand how mold spores work in this comment section genuinely frightens me," another admitted.

"I’m worried about some of you not knowing how mould works," a third said.

As someone else wrote: "Y'all must not know mould spores can travel through air."

"My family's house was destroyed by black mould, get a professional and get seen by doctors," another urged.

Symptoms of exposure to black mould include sneezing, coughing, red eyes and nasal congestion.
