West Yorkshire Police Assistant Chief Constable Damien Miller said Masum was known to police and that they had previous contact with Kulsama.

The officer revealed Masum was last seen getting off a bus on Killinghall Road at 3.42pm on Saturday where he made his way towards Bradford Moor park.

The suspect, who is believed to still be in the country, has not been seen since.

ACC Damien Miller said: "On Saturday April 6, shortly before 3:20pm Kulsama Akter was walking in Bradford city centre.

"Kulsama was with her young baby at this time, and was walking along Westgate when she was attacked and stabbed multiple times."

"The emergency services were called at 3:21pm. However, despite the best efforts of members of the public, ambulance crews, and hospital staff, Kulsama sadly lost her life due to the injuries.

"Her baby is safe and well and was not harmed in this incident."

The tragedy unfolded at the weekend when the mum was ambushed as she pushed her baby in a pram.

A brave shopkeeper ran out to try to save the woman after hearing her screaming in the street.

"I came out and I tried to check the pulse. There was no pulse.

"Blood was all over on the floor and there were stab wounds in her neck."

Tragically the woman couldn't be saved but her baby survived.

Police later revealed they were searching for Masum, who is from Oldham but has links to Chester and Burnley.
