Ant, 47, and Dec, 48, singled out Nigel Farage and Britney Spears' little sister Jamie Lynn in a show opener that was branded "epic" by viewers.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one viewer said: "Oh how i missed you ant & dec i’m so happy you’re back on my tv every night!"

Another remarked: "Ant & Dec are on one with the gags tonight..."

One more typed: "The way I've laughed so hard just from the first episode.

"This season is going to be epic."

Appearing live from the jungle, Ant began: "We didn't want him on the show, & neither did the producers..."

Introducing their new crop of campers to viewers, Dec said: "The man who’s got everyone talking, Nigel Farage.

He added: “Now, Nigel is not just known for his controversial political career, he’s also got his own show on GB news.”

Dec went on: “Of course he won’t be presenting that show over the next three weeks, so we’d like to take this opportunity to apologise to all of GB News viewers."

Ant then took over with the punch line, and quipped: "Sorry Keith, Sorry Linda," accusing the channel of having far less viewers.

The show then opened with a huge format change.

Instead of arriving in Brisbane on speed boats with champagne and treats, three contestants were thrown straight into the deep end.

Nigel, Josie Gibson and Nella Rose were forced to dig through dustbins filled with snakes for tokens to win their fellow celebs "time" in the Walk The Plank challenge.

Meanwile, Marvin Humes, Jamie Lynn Spears, and Nick Picard jumped out of a plane.

And Ant couldn't resist a joke at Marvin's boyband fame, telling viewers: "He nearly squashed his JLS, his juicy little sausage!"
