DIY whizz shares his 3 ingredient potion to make sure his bathroom always smells beautiful without spending a fortune

If you are spending hours and are still struggling to get your loo smelling fresh, you might want to use this nifty tip that cuts down on cleaning time.

Like all good life hacks, this hack was first shared on Tiktok.

Rapidly gain over 8 million views on the app, the viral video claims to keep your loo clean and smelling sensational using a humble water bottle.

You won’t have to sacrifice your Stanley cup either, as any old 500ml screw top bottle will do for this DIY – which was originally shared by Easy Tips.

In fact, the content creator claims that they are no longer spending money on their lavatory after discovering the hack.

He told viewers: “People always ask me why my bathroom is so fragrant…After this tip, you’ll never have to spend money on making your bathroom fragrant again.”

Showing the newly emptied bottle on screen, he use a small funnel to fill the bottle with fabric softener - which will give your bathroom a major scent boost.

“We’re going to add fabric softener. I’m using this one, but you can use whatever you have in your house,” the voiceover explained, adding: “We’re only going to add a cap full.”

The Tiktoker then advised fans to use a tablespoon of baking soda to the bottle, as this will help to clean tough stains on your toilet.

To get your loo sparkling though, you’ll need to add the juice of one lime or lemon as the acid from the fruit will cut through any built up grime.

Adding this to the bottle, Easy Tips revealed that the citrus fruit will also smell great in your bathroom, saying: “This tip is simply wonderful. I'm sure you and your family will love it.”

You’ll then need to top up the bottle with tap water, roughly 200ml or enough to allow for a gap at the top.

“As you can see, the bottle didn't fill up completely, and that's exactly what we need,” he told viewers, as he turned the bottle upside down for the next step.

Taking a small screwdriver, the content creator poked to small holes in the bottle just above where the cleaning solution ended.

Now ready to be used in your bathroom, with the DIY whizz demonstrated how the liquid gentle dripped out after was turned before placing it into the toilet’s tank.

“As you can see, it will come out drop by drop,” he revealed, telling fans: “With each flush, the lemon together with the bicarbonate is already cleaning your toilet [and] helping to kill bacteria.”

“The fabric softener, on the other hand, will give your toilet that delicious scent,” he added, as he covered the toilet back up.

Whilst we love that this hack repurposes recycled materials, we also love how cheap it is to make as ingredients like bicarbonate of soda can be found for just £1.19.

Likewise, a four pack of lemons is just 65p at Asda and the discount supermarket even has fabric softener only £2.00.
