  • Zhang's on a roll

This season Zhang has beaten some top names.

The list reads: Ronnie O’Sullivan x 2, Mark Williams, Ding Junhui, Luca Brecel, Judd Trump, Mark Allen, John Higgins, and now Mark Selby.

Will it be Mark Allen next?

  • Match stats

Zhang Anda is in the form of his life.

He defeated Mark Selby, and the stats show the believe he is playing with now.

  • Allen v Zhang head-to-head

So it's Mark Allen v Zhang Anda in the final

Incredibly, Allen and Zhang have played each other just three times over the years.

In their first meeting in 2011, Allen edged it 4-3 at the PTC.

Then, in the 2019 World Open Allen was again the victor 5-3.

However, this season the pair played in the last-16 of the World Grand Prix.

It was Zhang who recorded a 4-2 win.

  • Zhang 6-5 Selby

Zhang's opportunity to build up a lead comes early on in the frame.

But he has to break up the pack of reds with a lead of 50 and take a risk. It's a scenario that forces Zhang into a safety.

Selby has a sniff at a long range red, but it bounces off the sides and out.

He then gets another shot at the table, and misses a difficult brown.

Zhang isn't going to give this up. He clears the table to take the frame 87-1. And the game.

  • Zhang 5-5 Selby

    Well, well, well.

Selby had the opportunity to steal the frame, and looked like he was on his way until he fluffed his lines.

But he fluffs his lines, allowing Zhang to get back on the table with the score poised at 25-10. However, he can't capitalise.

It's cat and mouse again at 51-35 later in the frame with the pair exchanging snookers and safetys.

Selby leaves the brown open, but it takes a superb pot in the top left for Zhang to take control.

Would you believe he misses the blue next!

That allows Selby to take it to a eleventh and final frame.

  • Zhang 5-4 Selby

Huge blunder by Zhang, missing a textbook red on 16, allows Selby to the table.

And it's fluent break from Selby, the best he's played in this match.

A 113 break brings him back to within one frame.

  • Zhang 5-3 Selby

    Oh my!

A foul by Selby, potting the pink along with the blue let Zhang in.

But he misses an easy blue himself to let Selby back to the table.

It's a frame that goes well over the half hour mark, with both players clawing points and using snookers to try and bamboozle their opponent.

But it's Zhang who took advantage of an opening and finishes the table off.

  • Zhang 4-3 Selby

A brilliant long pot from Selby allows him to open up a 21 point lead.

Then a snooker on Zhang gifts him four more.

But it becomes a tetchy affair, tense, with Zhang ruffled by Selby's approach who slowly adds more points.

Both players return to the table, unable to build a lead.

Scrappy, as it is, Selby closes it out to win the frame.

  • Zhang 4-2 Selby

Selby is in the groove now.

Once he got to that table, there was no stopping him and he is finding his range now.

Is it too late? Hard to know.

A break of 80 plus though will give him confidence.

  • Zhang 4-1 Selby

Just when you thought the frame was slipping away from Selby, a miss from Zhang 56 points up gifts his opponent a chance.

And Selby comes alive, racing around the table to begin his comeback.

He needs the pink and the black to edge the frame with a 67 break. Amazing stuff.

Is this the start of something for Selby.

  • Zhang 4-0 Selby

Zhang gives Selby an early sighter, but he fails to make amends.

The China star is on fire with another high break - this time 84.

Selby can't believe what happening here.

He's not really had much time at the table, to be fair, and has hardly left his seat.

    Zhang leads at the interval.

  • Zhang 3-0 Selby

Selby finally pots a ball and adds four to his score.

Again, it's safety central with both players not wanting to blink first.

But alas, the balls run a bit more kindly for Zhang who is really in the mood tonight.

When he gets a chance to build a lead, he does just that with a break of 69.

  • Zhang 2-0 Selby

A wild attempt from Selby allows Zhang to the table, after a bit of cat and mouse play.

    And he is ruthless.

One hair moment, when it looked like he was out of position on the black, just meant he showed a lovely fine cut to the pocket shot.

A break of 80 seals frame two.

  • Zhang 1-0 Selby

Selby's attempts at a long red, early on, gifts Zhang a chance to settle in at the table.

But, he is forced into a safety without a colour to go for. Selby fouls, with Zhang retuning to build up a lead.

    And my what a break.

Zhang kicks off the match with a stunning 129 clearance.

  • Here we go!

Who will be joining Mark Allen in the final.

It's showtime in Telford, as the players make their way to the table.

China's Anda comes first and has learned he is breaking for the first frame.

    It's Selby who quickly follows.

  • Mark Selby on beating Ronnie 0'Sullivan

“To beat Ronnie in any tournament is a great scoreline, to beat him in the way I did, I am very, very pleased. It was more or less faultless,” Selby said on ITV4 following his win.

“It is a huge game and if you can’t get up for matches like that, you might as well put your cue away.

“I felt confident I could win, because if you don’t then more often than not the scoreline will be the other way.

"The biggest thing for me is that when I am not winning I try to tweak things, but the two performances I have put in here have proved to me that what I am doing now is what I need to carry on doing, whether I win or lose.”
