‘That seems a lot!’ say gobsmacked people after mum reveals how much the Tooth Fairy leaves her kids due to ‘inflation’

A MUM has sparked a fierce debate after sharing how much the local ''Tooth Fairy'' leaves for her tots.

After losing a tooth, most kids will be dashing to their bedrooms to stash the pearly white under their pillows in hopes of finding some money the next morning.

Although this amount varies from household to household, typically tots will get around 50p to £1 - but one girl ended up receiving a rather hefty sum instead.

Her mum took to Reddit to reveal the gift the Tooth Fairy had allegedly left for her daughter - and explained that she'd upped it due to the rising costs around the world.

The parent, who soon left fellow Redditors totally baffled, said: ''It's crazy the things you Google these days.

''I had to look up and see how much the Tooth Fairy pays out for the first tooth.''

After some discussion with her partner, the parents went with a generous banknote, as the tot had been looking forward to this moment for a while now.

''We decided to go with $20 [£16] because she's been so excited and she is late to losing her teeth. All her friends have lost several thus far.''

But what's more, the mum didn't stop there, as she gave the Tooth Fairy's gift an extra touch.

"I ended up doing an origami heart out of the $20 and dusting it with glitter.

''Then I took a pair of Barbie shoes and stamped a glitter walking path on her nightstand.

''She loved it and instantly started checking everywhere for other shoe prints to see where Ms Tooth Fairy entered the house."

However, when the little girl told her grandparents about the lovely surprise, they were in total disbelief - as were most people on the popular forum.

According to the mum, her parents ''were shocked'', as back in her days, she was ''lucky to get a quarter''.

Explaining why the couple were fine to treat their daughter to such a generous amount, the mum hit back, insisting that just like the rest of us, the Tooth Fairy, too, ''suffers from inflation''.

"The way we looked at it was like one article said, $10 [£8] to $20 [for the] first tooth then $1 [80s] to $5 [£4] each after.

''It comes out to be less than $100 [£80] over a several-year time frame.

''$100 is nothing these days over a span of years."

But whilst most Redditors were shocked by this, others insisted that children typically don't care about the money - rather, they appreciate that the Tooth Fairy had paid them a visit.

One person was totally gobsmacked, writing: "20? Like 20 dollars!

''That seems a lot. My kid gets a shiny £2 and a note from the tooth fairy. She is super pleased with that."

Another chimed in: ''We were planning on $5 but instead my son opted to keep his tooth to 'study it'."

A third penned: "Kids don't care about amount the amount, they're just that it's cool the fairy came."

Another chuckled: "Twenty bucks! I have some teeth you can take!"
