Bridezilla threatens to sue when flower girl gets chickenpox & skips wedding – but that’s not why the groom dumped her

NO flower girl, no friends, no groom, no money, and no wedding.

A bridesmaid said that a "bridezilla" got all that was coming to her when she ruined her own wedding.

The bridesmaid, u/lrhun, recounted the events leading up to the big day on a forum for Bridezilla stories.

She explained that her friend Dana was supposed to get married weeks ago to her boyfriend Josh but ended up ruining her own wedding.

Even before the day arrived, the bridesmaid was horrified by what she and her other friends had to put up with.

"She refused to invite my best friend, who she's supposedly good friends with because she thinks we're lesbian lovers. We're not," she said.

"She had us go to the dress fitting and then demanded each of us pay $2,000 each for our dresses," she continued.

"Apparently she had a specific style she wanted. I can afford it, but I won't buy a $2,000 dress for one event. Some of the girls in the bridal party don't have that flexibility with money."

On top of that, she found out the groom was not allowed to invite any female friends who were not related to him.

Many on the guest list were also bullied for not being able to accommodate the bride's whims.

"One of the girls in the bridal party doesn't drink because of her religion. Dana accused her of being pregnant in front of her parents and almost got her kicked out of her house," she said.

"She was not pregnant and she dropped from the bridal party. She was a class act, though, and never bad-talked Dana. Just said she couldn't make it."

It seemed like nearly every step of the wedding preparations was a mess — even the bachelorette party.

"She tried to make us cancel our holidays with our families to instead go with her to a destination bachelorette party," she said.

"I work full time even during holidays so I told her that was not happening. More of the bridesmaids said similar things and she dropped it."

On the big day, things kicked off to a horrible start when the flower girl called out sick for chicken pox, which the bride didn't take too well.

"She was threatening to sue the mother unless she brought this sick three-year-old to the wedding," she said.

The bride continued to have emotional outbursts, which the Maid of Honor took in stride, while the bridesmaid resigned herself to tasks that gave her excuses to be away from the bride.

"Eventually I had my make-up and hair done and then the bride asked for a little bit of time alone to 'decompress' from the stress. We didn't even fight it, you could not see a group of women run faster away," she said.

We left like the devil was after us. I checked with the other bridesmaid and all had escaped.

Thirty minutes before the ceremony, the bridesmaid found herself sitting in the chapel on her phone for a little peace.

Moments before, she found out that it had been canceled entirely.

"It had to be about five minutes before the start of the wedding when MoH came over to tell me the wedding was canceled. I asked her what happened," she said.

"MoH: Dana was having a 'quickie' with Josh's uncle in the room. Josh caught them.'"

The bridesmaid was disgusted by the 55-year-old uncle's behavior, who she later found out had known the bride since she was a teenager.

Shock at the news was an understatement, with the bridesmaid's jaw "pretty much about to reach the floor," but she recovered quickly, gathering the two bridesmaids she was carpooling with and leaving.

"We left like the devil was after us. I checked with the other bridesmaid and all had escaped," she said.

Later that night, a phone call to the Maid of Honor revealed that Josh had called off the wedding, told the bride and his uncle off, and left with his friends to have a big singles party.

"He apparently also told Dana and her parents that she will be paying the cancellation fees," she said.

"According to MoH, Dana's father told her in front of everyone that she was paying it on her own for being a s**t."

The bridesmaid was relieved to be done with the entire fiasco. Or so she thought.

"I got a call from Dana, not even an hour ago, demanding $5,000 to help pay her cancellation fees. According to Dana, it was our duty as the bridal party to pay her cancellation fees," she said.

"I obviously told her no and that she might as well lose my number. I am never speaking to this woman again.

"This has been pretty much the reaction of all bridesmaids and the MoH. By the way, MoH? Josh's older sister."

People agreed that the groom came out on top in the end, despite the wedding disaster.

"Josh dodged a bullet," said one commenter.
