Woman who ‘can’t afford to put the heating on’ shares easy way she keeps warm all day – and it’s free
A WOMAN who can’t afford to turn her heating on has shared the simple way she stays warm.
So if you’re on a budget and are looking to keep your energy bills low, you’ve come to the right place.
Vicki Alderman took to social media to share the hack that keeps her warm without heating in the winter.
She said: “Are you struggling to keep warm because you can’t afford to put the heating on? Yep, me too.
“How many layers are you wearing right now? Here’s me…”
We then saw Vicki get dressed for the day, as she showed off each layer of clothing.

She began with a pair of black leggings and a vest top, as well as a pair of boot slippers.
For the second layer, she added a grey jumper.
Shortly after this, we saw Vicki go for her third layer, a floaty navy jumper dress.
For layer four, Vicki added a thick, roll neck jumper.
She then added a thick grey zip-up jumper for her fifth layer.
And to finish off her look, she added a warm kaftan scarf.
But if you thought that was all - think again - as Vicki then added her cosy accessories.
She explained: “Yes, six layers, plus a hat, fingerless gloves and a hot water bottle.”
Vicki later admitted: “I have a prepayment meter. No money in meter = no electric.
“I’m managing alright. Still cold!! It’s been a tough year.
“The cost is ridiculous.”
Vicki then asked her followers: “How many layers are YOU wearing to keep warm?!”
The TikTok clip, which was posted the username @vickialderman, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed a staggering 400,000 views in just one day.
Social media users were stunned at Vicki’s situation and many admitted to feeling ‘heartbroken’.
One person said: “This is heartbreaking…”
To this, Vicki replied: “It’s ok. There are people way worse off than me. It’ll soon be springtime.”
Another added: “Nobody deserves this...hope everything gets better for you soon.”
Whilst a third commented: “Buy a heated blanket!! They help so so much and some are very cheap in cost.”
Meanwhile, others were keen to open up on their experiences with the current weather.
One user shared: “I have 6 layers, but it’s so cold in my house that I can see my breath.”
A second chimed in: “I have 4 layers on and can't afford heating at the minute.”
But this isn’t the first time that we’ve seen Vicki share her tips to keep warm in the winter.

“My fingers get so cold they hurt, but not anymore because now I do this.
“Get yourself a woolly hat, put your mouse mat and your mouse inside your hat and you’ve got yourself a lovely little warm mouse pad muff.”
Showing off her DIY trick, Vicki continued: “It works brilliantly at keeping your hands warm.”
