I found a $3.5k designer bag in the thrift store – I paid $15 to get it authenticated, they were doubtful but it’s real

THE thrift gods were looking down on one canny shopper when she found a $3.5k designer bag.

She was certain this iconic fashion item was the real deal but paid $15 to have it authenticated.

They were initially doubtful of its provenance but soon confirmed this was the genuine article.

Alyssa (@alyssa_labrie) is a Brooklyn-based model, actress, and thrifter.

“The story of the greatest thrift find I have ever had," she said in her post.

She admitted to having a crush on the Fendace collaboration.

The coupling of fashion houses Fendi and Versace has been described as a "moment in fashion."

But there were to be no moments for Alyssa because they were way out of her price league.

“Me loving the Fendace collaboration but thinking nothing of it because I’m broke," she wrote.

That was, however, until she hit the jackpot.

“Walking into a random thrift store in Brooklyn one day and seeing a Fendace bag on the shelf?" she said.

She recognized the quality when she saw it. It was a Fendace La Medusa Medium handbag.

“Googling it to see the original price. $3,550. Trying to figure out if it is real."

Convinced it was the real deal, she took a chance and bought it and invested more money in getting it authenticated.

There was some delay in the experts getting back to her and it was agony.

“Waiting to hear back from them. Starting to panic and I think it’s fake."

But when the answer came through, she could hardly believe it.

“Hearing back from the authenticator, who said 'I freaking screamed for you.'

“She’s 100% authentic. Now me, a peasant owning a brand new Fendace bag for 80% off," she said, the proud owner of designer gold.

“I love her so much I’m scared to do anything with her."

Some commenters worked out how much she paid for her discounted bag - even with 80% off - and were shocked.

"So you paid around $700?" asked one person.

But others wondered why they did not have similar thrift good fortune.

“The thrift gods have their favorites I guess," said one person.

“Omg, congratulations. The universe must have wanted you to have it," was the delighted reaction of another.

“What?? Already in a thrift store. This collection only dropped three months ago. But congratulations," mused one viewer.

“I got a Louis Vuitton Eclipse handbag for $25 from the thrift store recently sold for $1500," said another with a similarly good result to Alyssa's.
