And particularly if you’re on a budget - you’ll be thrilled to know that thanks to cheap buys from Amazon, it’ll cost you just £1.50 a day to keep your house feeling cosy - yes, you heard that correctly.

Claire Appleton, from North Yorkshire, lives in a former mill owner's house, built in the 1920s.

She revealed that thanks to her ‘DIY bioethanol fireplace’, she can heat her home “from £1.50 per day with this fake fire.”

First off, she bought a fire basket, which cost her £30 from Amazon.

She then removed the insert from an old burner and added this, along with some ceramic logs, also from Amazon, to her fire basket.

Once that was done, she squirted in some Bio Ethanol Fluid, which costs £36.99 for 12 litres.

Claire then lit her DIY fireplace with a long lighter, and then sat back to enjoy the warmth.

Thrilled with her savvy hack, Claire beamed: “Items all bought from Amazon. Cheap to run and actually heats your room.”

She then added: "Now the colder nights have kicked in, this is the perfect solution for those empty fireplaces!

It’s -8 degrees where I live but my husband’s genius hack makes our house so warm and cozy – it smells good, too_

"I’ve based the running cost on the fact we bought the Bio ethanol liquid in bulk.

"We burn around half a litre per day/evening.

"Living in an old house it’s started to get cold, this is helping us refrain from popping the heat on.

"We’re heating a room that is 68 cubic meters just with this little fire.

"Not only does it look super cute, it's practical too!"

Claire added that she'd done her research on Bio ethanol fires, and found that the room it's in needs to have good airflow or an air vent, but doesn't require a chimney or a flue.

She concluded: "Bio ethanol is a clean burning fuel.

“We have no radiator in the room currently (need to get one) and trust me, it works.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @making_a_home1, has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly amassed 826,800 views.

Social media users were stunned at the clever idea and many took to the comments to express this.

One person said: "It’s such a good option for those who can’t have log burners!"

Another added: "I need to set up a fake fire in our other room. This looks great!"

A third commented: "This is such an amazing idea!"
