PlayStation offers owners 18 more free games including one of the most popular and highly-rated games of all time

PLAYSTATION has a bumper selection of free games this month to tempt players away from the popular competitor Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox Game Pass raised the price recently, and a number of additions to the service have been Xbox Game Pass Ultimate exclusive.

By comparison, PlayStation seems to have upped its game with its service PS Plus is offering subscribers up to 18 games to play this month.

Three games were previously announced for PS Plus Essential in August including the excellent challenging metroidvania Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Night.

These games were added to the service on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, but now 15 more games have been added to PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Premium.

Among the games added this month is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, commonly thought of as one of the best games of all time.

It has a massive 93 rating on review aggregate site Metacritic, and is the basis for the hugely popular TV show.

Two series dominate the games given away this month; popular anime RPGs from the Sword Art Online series, and the classic FPS series TimeSplitters.

Three TimeSplitters games are available via PS Plus Premium in August, while four Sword Art Online games have been added to PS Plus Extra, and one to PS Plus Premium.

Most of the games added this month are available on both PS4 and PS5, but there are three games that are PS5 exclusive.

Wild Hearts, Ride 5, and Vacation Simulator are PS5 exclusive, including this last game which is exclusive to PS VR2.

There are 10 games added to PS Plus Extra this month, though two are PS5 exclusive. Here’s the full list.
