M5 traffic: Vital motorway shut in BOTH directions over 4 hours after ‘serious crash’ as emergency crews scrambled

A VITAL motorway has closed in both directions for over four hours after a "serious crash" sent emergency crews rushing to the scene.

It is uncertain when junctions 23 (Dunball) and 24 (Bridgewater) on the M5 in Somerset will reopen.

The road will be closed this morning to allow for Police collision investigation to commence.

Drivers have been warned to expect delays.

Avon and Somerset Police are at the scene, along with National Highways Traffic Officers.

Northbound traffic has been advised by National Highways to follow the solid triangle diversion symbol on the road signs.
