The One Show thrown into chaos by Death in Paradise star Ralf Little’s VERY rude response to DI Neville Parker grilling

RALF Little appeared on The One Show last night but sent the studio into chaos when he gave a very cheeky response to a question about his character, DI Neville Parker.

The Death in Paradise star joined Alex Jones and Lauren Laverne on the BBC talk show to promote the upcoming series of the detective drama.

Alongside promoting the new season of Death in Paradise, which kicks off with an explosive premiere to mark the show’s 100th episode, Ralf, 43, revealed a few behind-the-scenes secrets about filming the series, including how the heat causes his shins to get very sweaty.

Ralf also admitted that he was left completely star-struck by Oscar-winning actress Hayley Mills, who is a guest in the second episode of the new season. And he revealed that some of the most coveted British comforts on set are tea bags, salad cream and baked beans.

But the biggest questions viewers wanted answers to actually revolved around Ralf’s character’s love life. Bringing up a burning question, Lauren asked: “Loads of viewer questions coming in so I want to shoot this one at you. Ciaran asks: ‘Will Neville ever get his happy ending?’”

Ralf was completely taken aback by the question as he’d been earnestly praising Hayley, 77, and gushing about having the opportunity to work with him just moments before.

Shocked by the way the conversation switched gears, Ralf scoffed and his involuntary reaction sent the studio into chaos. Both he and guest Gaynor Faye both burst out in a fit of laughter.

Trying to compose himself, Ralf replied, “Just mentally change gear. Yes… Well… I don’t know…” before he burst out laughing once more.

Unable to speak without laughing, Ralf admitted: “I didn’t change gear fast enough.” Buying himself some, he adds: “I think what you mean is, will he find some sort of love?”

Alex, 46, and Lauren, 45, encouraged him to continue, but Ralf still couldn’t get through a single sentence without erupting into another fit of laughter.

“We join Neville at the start of the series…” he begins, but Ralf has everyone in the studio giggling when he isn’t able to continue.

Eventually, he calms himself and answers the question. He said: “At the start of this series he’s very emotionally bruised from what happened at the end of last year and he has to try and find love, and he has to be persuaded to believe in love again which is a very profound journey for him because when he first arrived on the island he was too sort of nervous to live a full life and he’s sort of back in the same place again.

“So maybe he’ll get a happy ending," Ralf concluded.

“Good save, Ralf,” Alex praised, but her comment had the guest and her co-host giggling once more.

Viewers at home found the exchange equally hilarious.

One reposted the clip on X, formerly known as Twitter, and wrote: “Asking the question all the viewers want to know and the one Ralf Little was least expecting,” alongside several laughing emojis.

Meanwhile, Gaynor, 52, was still laughing about the question when the show was over. “Thankyou for having me, The One Show. Always a ‘happy ending’ Ralf Little,” she wrote on social media.

Ralf, who has been playing DI Neville Parker since 2020, previously opened up more about what viewers can expect from his character’s love life when Death in Paradise returns on Sunday.

He explained to Radio Times that to get over everything that happened last season — he was framed for murder — that Neville is going to write a blog about his time on the island.

Ralf added: “No one really reads his blog, unsurprisingly. Apart from one fan, ‘Sunset Chaser’, who gets in touch to say his posts are interesting. The tone is flirty, and they are implied female, so Neville starts having a little bit of an online flirt.”
