Relax, urges aesthetics pro – too much exercise can ruin your skin, my DIY face masks are great for a glowing complexion
KILLING yourself with grueling gym workouts may not be as rewarding as you've been led to believe.
Sian Bassett shared her highly recommended anti-aging tips and revealed why it’s important to be mindful of how much you exercise.
Bassett is a nurse with over 10 years of industry experience and the founder of UK-based company Sian Aesthetics.
Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she shared beauty habits for a youthful appearance.
PAMPER YOURSELF
Bassett said home remedies can work wonders for the skin and some of the best are cooking staples.
“My unique anti-aging solution would be to integrate adaptogens like ginseng into your skincare routine, as a way of reducing stress,” she said.
“Utilising natural ingredients, like honey or turmeric, in DIY face masks is another fantastic option if you're hoping to guarantee a healthy glowing complexion.”
PRESS THE SNOOZE BUTTON
Bassett emphasized that rest is crucial for keeping skin healthy and ageless.
“Sufficient sleep is vital for skin revitalization, so you should aim to get a full 7-9 hours each night if you want to keep your face young and healthy,” she said.
“The increased circulation brought about by physical activity works wonders for nutrient distribution and waste elimination.
“However, excessive exercise can cause inflammation and hamper the appearance of your skin, so just make sure you don't overdo it.”
FIGHT WRINKLES
Bassett said a rejuvenating beauty routine consists of a mild cleanser, antioxidant serum, hyaluronic moisturizer, retinol treatment, and broad-spectrum sun cream.
However, other key ingredients can be used to target specific skin concerns.
“To reduce fine lines and wrinkles without injections, I suggest focusing on products with peptides,” she said.
“Peptides have been found to boost both collagen production and skin elasticity.
I recommend implementing antioxidants in your early 20s.

“On the other hand, gentle exfoliation eliminates dead skin cells, while facial massages encourage lymphatic drainage to reduce swelling.”
She said retinoids support healthy cell turnover and are worth investing in to slow the signs of aging.
“I find antioxidants, like vitamin C, to be incredibly effective at shielding your skin against environmental harm,” she said.
“Meanwhile, hyaluronic acids will help you sustain adequate moisture levels in the skin, with the best results occurring in those who start looking after their skin at a young age.
“I recommend implementing antioxidants in your early 20s, retinoids in your mid-20s, and hyaluronic acids in your late 20s.”
Bassett's tips come after makeup artist Laura Kay shared specific product recommendations with The U.S. Sun.
